Bilger's Rocks

The area is very quiet and serene. The rock formations are absolutely exquisite. I took so many pictures. There were so many unique features...the colors and shapes of the rocks. There was even a little snack bar that was open. The Porta-Potty restrooms were clean. The bugs were not bad at all. We did not see any snakes or any animals except chipmunks. We heard some black-throated green warblers. We saw a Dark-eyed Junco and a Hermit Thrush. This would be a half decent place to go bird-watching. This is a must-see attraction if you are in this area. We drove almost a half hour to get there' and it was well worth it! I would definitely go back again. It does not require any skill to walk around and see the beautiful rocks. You can walk on top of them, or walk around the bottoms. make sure you bring your camera. There is a donation box for your admission. The area is taken care of by volunteers only. I talked to one Gentleman on the phone who was very friendly and helpful!

If you enjoy "antiguing," this is a great place to visit. There are three stories of stuff to investigate - ranging from trinkets to big items such as furniture, including an asbestos cutter! The shopkeepers are pleasant and don't push you into purchasing. One of the neatest things about this place is the original pneumatic tube delivery system that retailers used in the good old days to collect payment and deliver change. You have to see it - it's set up on the top floor with the tubes, desk, change tray, etc.of the financial person in charge back in the day. Don't find that anywhere.

Starr Hill Vineyard & Winery

Ken Starr learned the art of making wine by his father’s side in 1952. When stationed in Europe in the early 60’s, Ken visited many wineries and appreciated the German style of wine making. He started making wine on his own from 1966 to 1977. In 1994, he purchased property in Curwensville, Pennsylvania and planted 12 vines. By 1998, there were 3000 vines… Concord, Niagara, Traminette, Foch and Leon Millot. He built a winery in 1998 and started making wine again. The wine was good prompting him to go commercial in 2005. He has now brought the Old World Ambiance to Curwensville, Pennsylvania. Today the romance and the talent are passing once again to Ken’s son and his sons, now four Generations of wine makers and the tradition continues. We welcome you to Starr Hill Vineyard & Winery!

I met Ken years ago and back then he was just really getting started on the expansion. I remember him telling me how he was almost completely off the grid, which is an amazing feat in its own right, but to run an amazing business and show that it can be done is another. Their wines are amongst the best I have had and I am not a wine drinker, but the wines from Starr are ones that I will drink. Now Starr Hill wine is seen almost everywhere in our area and beyond. A truly amazing feat for a local winery.

Nice hidden campground with about 30 RV sites/ tent sites/ and cabins. Playground for the kids, dog park for your dogs, and oh ya, don't forget about the amazing lake with a beach area and no HP limit for boats/wave runners. Picnic areas down by the lake.
