Be prepared for some tight curves and steep incline to reach the top. Scary to me, but also beautiful.
The staff is so helpful and nice. The scenery is something not to miss.
I wanted to try a little fishing, went to the small lake, but they had drained it some to fix the damn I think. No fishes to be found, but totally enjoyed just the relaxation and beauty of it all.
Definitely worth the trip.

On a recent end of summer trip to the North Georgia mountains, my sister and I visited the 12 Spies Vineyards at sunset. We brought a pre-cooked pizza from a local restaurant. The staff at the vineyard baked our pizza in a wood fired oven while we were inside sampling wines. We purchased a bottle and enjoyed it with our pizza as the sun went down. They also have live music sometimes, so definitely check their website for details.

We took our 7 year old Godson for the 4th of July holiday, abd talked about riding when we checked in. I spoke to Pam? At the stables and discussed what would be best for a leary 7 year old...she suggested the parent led ride 1st...it was PERFECT!! He rode Sadie and was excited to do another ride. So we booked for an afternoon ride for the following day and git rhe river ride. We had a large group with 4 guides. Because my God son was nervous Emily had us ride behind her. They match riders to horses and low and behold, he got Sadie again...he was ecstatic!!! What a great ride!!! Nice, slow, lots of attention and direction from guides...what a great group of ladies!! Will definitely do this again...great expense, very menorable afternoon!!!

Be in fair health. Cute, winding mountain trail that leads to various cabins. The first one is from 1840...it is an Irish immigrants cabin that housed 3 generations of large families. My son loved learning about the tools that people used to use in the past. It's very humbling in our comfort saturated environment to be reminded of how hard people worked the land in the past. My favorite thing was that kids could touch everything. Usually museums have everything behind windows and off limits. I really liked the active, hands on feel of the homes. The chapel was very sweet, my son loved ringing the bell.

Open weekends December thru May. Just wine!
My husband and I visited this winery a couple days ago, along with many others in the area. This was by far the best yet. The staff here are so so friendly, not pretentious, just down to earth friendly people. The facility is also very...MoreYou hit it. Wine should not be pretentious and should be enjoyed. Stop by again if you're in our neighborhood. Harvest will soon be here along with our annual Harvest Stomp (combination of "I Love Lucy" with an Athens surf band) on Saturday, October 7th.

A national forest offering a wealth of outdoor activities.
We drove through this area; winding roads with great scenery, and occasional terrific views. Plenty of hiking available as well. Bring the camera.
Can get busy starting in the summer months, so consider getting into the area early. So lucky to have this within driving distance of Atlanta.

Tiger Mountain Vineyards, a boutique North Georgia winery, cultivates all of its grapes and produces all of its handcrafted wines right here in the mountains of Rabun County. We grow six French varietals including: Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Tannat, Mourvedre, Viognier, and Petit Manseng. We also grow a Portugese grape called Touriga Nacional, and one Native American grape called Norton. We specialize in fine, dry, European-style wines, and we are proud to be the recipients of over 200 hundred awards for our finely crafted vintages. We offer tastings of 8-10 wines for a $10 tasting fee, and you can enjoy a glass of wine while strolling through the vineyards on a five-generation farm. You can also enjoy fine cuisine at The Red Barn Cafe overlooking the vineyards and Tiger Mountain.
We were told this was one of the larger vineyards in the area and decided to give it a try.
They have 14 acres and were only offering tastings of reds. The cost .. $10 per person .. steep for what you get!
I wasn't impressed based on wine tastings from other vinyards. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable on their product.
Bottom line .. too expensive for what is offered and not impressed with their wines... keep in mind that wine taste is subjective and other may disagree with my opinion.

No pick up truck or SUV required to enjoy. Take the car and chairs or picnic blanket. Audio broadcast through the radio. So no wired speaker to hang in window. Grounds are terraced so cars in front of you won't block your view. Ok to take food in but concession stand has more to choose from than typical movie theater. Get it thirty minutes ahead of movie to avoid long lines that form just prior to start. Old playground for kids.
