--Winner of the Arizona Tourism Award!-- The Copper Art Museum is one of the most interesting in the USA, purposely located in the former copper town of Clarkdale - a USA City Beautiful Movement town founded in 1912. Clarkdale was built by Senator W. A. Clark "America's Copper King." The collection on display is massive with over 5000 artifacts and hundreds dating to the 1500-1800's, Galleries; Special Historical Information, Military Art, Art and Architecture, Kitchen Collection, Drinking Collection and Winery and Distillery Collection. You will be amazed by this museum!
An education around every corner. This museum is immaculately maintained and has wonderful self guided signs throughout. The feeling is cool, quiet and peaceful. They have worked hard to create this space. Plan on spending a couple of hours if you want to stroll through....longer if you want to read every sign. Every question you might have about copper and this museum is answered somewhere within these walls. Loved it! There's few places to eat while in Clarkdale. However we took a stroll around this cute little town. We went back to historic Cottonwood for lunch. There's a lot of places to stop there.

Chateau Tumbleweed is a collaboration of four friends – two husband-and-wife teams – who, after working more than 30 combined years for other Arizona wineries, recently left their “day jobs” to focus on their own project. We have a great friendship, a penchant for absurdity and complementary skills in vineyard management, winemaking, sales and administration. We crafted our first wine – only three barrels – in 2011. After three vintages of making our wine at the Four-Eight Wineworks Winemaker’s Cooperative in Camp Verde (2012-2014), we took the plunge, purchased the building we’d been eying for the previous year and converted it into one of Clarkdale’s first commercial wineries and tasting rooms.
I saw CT online with the Verde Valley tour and it said worth a stop, so we did Our host LOU which we want to adopt, was the best. Let us do a VIP switch around on the tasting and even went back and brought out some from the back room... Was a fun time and great atmosphere. If u r in the area, please stop and enjoy. And yes, we purchased some reds! Our covid safe tasting kinda sucked, but it was what it was. At least the wine was good DaveB

Wow are we lucky to have the Southwest Wine Center at Yavapai College! Not only do they have award winning, yummy wines, the wine is made by the students and many made from the vineyard right there. There is a full 2 year program to learn all the basics about producing wine. They learn everything from planting the vineyard to harvesting to producing to working a tasting room. They have some exceptional wines, beautiful views of the vineyard, the mountains, red rocks of Sedona and a very comfortable tasting area. It's a bit of a unknown to many, even locals, so usually not crowded, at not yet that is. :)

Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful! More beautiful than the red rocks. Sublime, genuine, spirituality where you can experience spiritual elation. Just come daily at 9 o'clock am and take it all in!

Great of both sides of the mountain! We drove the road going from Prescott to Jerome. In fewer than 35 miles, Arizona State Route 89A goes from scrubby prairies up to mountains topped by pines and aspens. It’s quite the drive. Beginning from Prescott, it’s mostly rolling scrub oak hills. From there it winds and climbs steeply up the mountain. Wow! What a climb. At the top, there’s an amazing view of valley below. The road winds down into a canyon with a big mining operation off to one side. Lots of copper pulled from the mountains here. And finally, the road travels to and through Jerome and down to Clarkdale. It is such an amazing drive. We loved it.

Built on the top of a hill, these are the ruins of a village from 1100 A.D. that once consisted of approximately 110 rooms.
We went to Tuzigoot National Monument. The building is very interesting to see. There are also exhibits.

One of only three historic Arizona roads recognized by the State of Arizona, Centered in Clarkdale. US Route 89A is plaqued with a historic 89A sign and the historic portion begins in Cottonwood, Arizona south to Clarkdale, Arizona and ends in Jerome, Arizona. All three towns have historic districts (Old Towns) with the road as its center. Clarkdale features a historic 89A road marker near the center of town, which explains the origins of the road as a trail about 600 years ago.
We took Historic Route 89A on our way up to and from the Grand Canyon. It was a windy road and it was around Labor Day weekend so the road was stop/go all along Oak Creek with people camping and swimming. The road itself had beautiful views bringing you from the high desert to the mountains. Along the way was some vista points which was fun as the Native Americans were selling their beautiful jewelry much to my delight! On the way home we hit some well deserved rain which brought out rainbows in the early evening, it was beautiful! As we got higher on the road we even spotted some elk!
