Sydney offers plenty of historical and contemporary Australian flavor. The marvelous Sydney Opera House looks like a great origami sailboat, floating peacefully in a harbor. Wander the narrow cobblestone streets of The Rocks and then take in a street performance on the Circular Quay before heading into the Museum of Contemporary Art. The views from the Sydney Tower Eye observatory are epic – use this chance to get to know the layout of the city from high above.

Every Friday & Saturday evening, Bruce Glen, The Gentleman Magician presents an entrancing evening of magic and captivating Australian stories at Sir Stamford at Circular Quay - one of Sydney’s most beautiful historic hotels.
Bruce Glen's Gentleman Magician's show is not just entertainment, but also intelligent fun! His well crafted story telling intertwines with illusions, sorry Bruce, I meant "Magic". His stories are full of historical references which bring greater meaning to the whole show. The intrigue around what is to come, starts right from when you enter the foyer of the beautiful heritage listed Sir Stamford (once owned by The Ritz Carlton...), with the Concierge asking you to "Pick a card; any card" and there is so much more to follow. Thank you again to Bruce and his assistant Katherine, the evening was magical (could not avoid this adjective no matter how much I tried to resist). Regards Gillian

With commanding views over Sydney Harbour, Elizabeth Bay House gleams like a Greek temple. Once surrounded by famous landscaped gardens, it is one of the most splendid private houses ever built in Australia and still arouses our delight and astonishment. Its elegant rooms and fine proportions, sweeping staircase and lavish furnishings reveal the tastes and aspirations of its original owner, Alexander Macleay, after the governor, the most important public official in colonial Sydney. But it was his magnificent gardens which most keenly expressed his tastes and passions, and in the economic downturn of the 1840s pushed him towards ruin. Elizabeth Bay House is an iconic Sydney home, with an iconic Sydney back-story of obsession for property and position stretched beyond means and undone by changing financial times. Explore the house on your own or ask for a guided tour. Note that if you are making a special trip for a guided tour, please call to ensure there is a guide available.
The architecture of this building is outstanding and compares well with Vaucluse House although from a slightly different period. The furniture is appropriate for the building and beautifully displayed. There are a series of information plaques on the second floor. The view of the harbour is spectacular and you can only imagine what it must have been like when the house had it's full curtilage. Cheap entry for seniors and the young lady at the counter was very welcoming and helpful. Take the documentation for the self guided tour which gives you time to take in the splendour of the place at your own pace. A real "must see" when you visit Sydney.
