One of the most historic cities in America, Philadelphia is an ideal place to spend a weekend - preferably a long one. Be sure to see the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, where the Constitution and Declaration of Independence were signed. Both are part of Independence National Historic Park. Philadelphia also boasts some outstanding art museums, including the Rodin Museum. The Franklin Institute Science Museum is one of many area attractions honoring the life and work of Benjamin Franklin, the city's most famous ambassador. After digesting all of that history, be sure you save room for a classic Philly cheese steak sandwich.

Curtis’s free student recital series most Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings is a fabulous opportunity to hear wonderful music played by super talented young musicians who will be the stars of the future. They also live stream on YouTube if you can’t make it in person.

We went to see the Marriage of Figaro. The orchestra was fantastic, and the performance first rate. People in the area don't realize what a world-class gem this institution is, right here in our back yard, so to speak. The singers, the production, the stage design --all were excellent. And the building provides an intimate experience. On the ride home, husband turned on the radio, and I asked him not to, not wanting to lose the music, which I could still hear in my head.
