If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, how about a Japanese-style tea ceremony experience led by the head priest at a serene temple surrounded by lush green? Daruma dolls are round-shaped dolls that have long been loved by the Japanese as good luck charms that help realize people’s wishes. In this one-hour workshop, you can create your original colorful daruma doll. Choose your favorite fabric, cut and paste it onto the daruma’s body, and paint a face on it. As daruma and fabrics are two of Chofu’s main specialties, this makes a perfect souvenir of your visit to the city. While waiting for the glue to dry, engage in fun little daruma-themed games or take pictures with a daruma mask on your head. Tea will also be served at this time. This is a great way to get a quick hands-on experience of Japanese culture while putting your creativity to work.
