Rich in grasslands, desert plains and volcanic hills, the Savuti (Savute) area covers nearly two thousand square miles of Chobe National Park.
Watching the animals was incredible. A leopard walked right along side our jeep. Up close and personal with the animal water hole.

The CARACAL World of Wildlife offers an unique opportunity to get up close and personal with some of Botswana's lesser-known, less often encountered, and often poorly understood wildlife. Conservation education is at the heart of everything we do. Our collection is made up of a range of creatures that have been injured or orphaned, and although we do rehabilitate and release these animals, this is not always possible due to the severity of their injuries. We take this bad situation and try to get something positive out of it by providing a high quality of life and inducting these animals into our ambassador program. In this way, these animals become ambassadors for their respective species, offering not just the chance to encounter one of them, but also to learn all about their stories and the roles they fulfill in Botswana's vibrant ecosystems. Our collection includes Botswana's largest collection of endemic snakes, small mammals, raptors, owls, and a few endangered species too. Each year we host thousands of school children from across the country, thousands of foreign tourists, wildlife officers, policy-makers, officials, locals and others. Our offering is unique, informative, family friendly, affordable, and not to be missed.
The sanctuary does very nice work, rehabilitating injured or orphaned animals/birds/reptiles. I visited the sanctuary by myself and there are two types of visit: the standard or “enhanced” visit ($5 or $7), I opted for the enhanced tour and I really enjoyed it. My personal guide took the time to show me all the animals, explain about the animals’ habitat and history. You can interact with animals like the honey badger and tree squirrel etc. They also do a lot of educational work with the local community and I highly recommend visiting if you like animals and you’re in the area.
