The National Museum of History of Moldova takes place among the most important museum institutions of the Republic of Moldova, in terms of both its collection and scientific prestige.
What a great and educational visit! This museum is most definitely in our top 5 attractions in Chisinau. For only 20MDL you get access to amazing exhibitions and most importantly to understanding the history of Moldova. We were star struck by the diorama - seeing the 800sqm representation of war must be one of our highlights of our trip!

It is a very good place to get to know more about the poet, the guide was very passionate and progessional! If you can I advise to do the excursion in Russian, then you will hear part of his poetry related to his presence in Besarabia.

We came here on our final day in Moldova before our late afternoon flight. Finding the building was easy and it's hard to miss the various aircraft, missiles and aeroplanes outside. But when wondering into the building, finding the museum entrance was a bit more difficult! Luckily someone pointed us in the right direction to the second floor and we paid the 10 lei entry fee. You can pay a bit more if you want to take photos inside but we didn't. I think the curator was just opening up as she unlocked a section for us and put the lights on! Inside there are lots of exhibits and artefacts to look at. There isn't much in English, but you can piece together things yourself. There was lots of Russian / Soviet stuff as well as WWII. We then went through into a new section which had information on the founding of their army, as well as section on Chernobyl and more modern information. We were running out of time so headed out and took some photos with the aircraft and then headed off. Definitely worth a visit - you could spend as long as you want looking at things.
