Covering approximately 9,600,000 square kilometers (3,700,000 sq mi), it is the third- or fourth-largest country by total area, depending on the source consulted. China also has the most neighbor countries in the world. Governed by the Communist Party of China, it exercises jurisdiction over 22 provinces, five autonomous regions, four direct-controlled municipalities (Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, and Chongqing), and the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau.

The walk is relatively easy if you catch a cab from Pak Tam Chung. As private cars are not allowed to access beyond Pak Tam Chung, you can either catch a cab in or hike in. Cab ride costed around HKD75 one way & around 15 mins. The views on the way in are nice. The East Dam view is lovely too. Byt there are no trees and the area is totally open. Do bring a cap... At the end of the trail is a sea cave, the waters are crystal clear. Catching a cab back might be a problem, try to go in the morning, and leave before noon, if there are people going in, the cabs will be waiting to take passengers on the return journey. It seems on Sundays, you can catch a mini bus in but we havent tried before.

With all the natural beauty China has to offer at times you just have to admire the scale of the man made achievements too. The 3 Gorges dam project is on a scale that is mind boggling. 600+km of reservoir, 1.3 million inhabitants relocated, ship lift, loch system, flood mitigation and the power generation. This is a serious achievement accomplished by a lot of hard working people. Well worth a visit and the outdoor escalators made the ascent easy. Like all major attractions in China there are crowds but that is China so you need to adapt and not complain!
