This reminds me the Redwood Forest and Muir wood in California, smaller scale but easier to walk around. It was an excellent experience to walk in this area and breathed the freshest air while your eyes watched all beautiful nature scenes. This is a must visit spot and must do activity at Alishan.

In November 1906, Japanese people discovered a giant red cypress near the current Shenmu Station. The tree is 50 meters high and the chest height is 25 meters. It is estimated that the tree is more than 3,000 years old and is regarded as a sacred tree. In 1914, the Alishan Forest Railway was opened to traffic. The sight of the towering Alishan sacred tree and the small forest train that needs to travel is almost a spiritual symbol of Alishan, and it has become a famous landmark of Taiwan at home and abroad. In 1953, the sacred tree of Alishan was struck by lightning, and its vitality was severely injured.
