Elephant Valley Thailand

Elephant Valley Thailand was Chiang Rai's elephant sanctuary. Established in 2016 it closed in May 2020 due to Covid19 crisis.

Thank you to JJ, Bim & Phon (sorry if spelt wrong) for having us at Elephant Valley, it was such an amazing experience and definitely the highlight of our trip to Asia! We did the full day tour/volunteering experience with overnight stay at the guest house which I would 100% recommend for anyone considering seeing elephants in Thailand! This is a true "sanctuary", totally hands off to tourists so you get to learn about and see first hand how these beautiful animals interact in their natural habitat which is incredible. Not only that but you get to help the keepers and staff prepare the elephants food, clean up their poo (more fun than it sounds) and genuinely help to keep the sanctuary a great place for the elephant to live . Thanks again Elephant Valley Thailand!

This is one of my favorite place in Chaingrai province because of the great service, healthy food and fresh atmosphere you even cannot find in any places in Thailand. Not only above i mentioned but also has a lot of activities to do with your family, friend or who you come with. Besides there is the souvenir, cafe zone, room and camp service to serve you all. Do not forget to add this travel place in your trip lists.

Worth a trip. It’s breathtaking . Im lucky enough to see the sunrise on early January .you’ll see the sea of fogs, some Hmong kids dancing en route when we climb up the peak, everything is epic. It’s windy and cool up there. I offer some tips for people who’re staying in Chiang rai and don’t mind to spend a lil and wanting an easy trip (save time )to phu chi fa, you can actually get some agency along the city in Chiang rai offering a trip from your hotel to the hiking point, around 3000 baht ,then you’ll just take a 20-30 minutes hike up to phu chi fa.

Doi Tung

The original must go destination in Chiang Rai. The small restaurant offers good cheap northern Lanna food. The museum about the Princess Mother and the Mahidol family is always inspiring but its exactly the same as 10 years ago so needs an upgrade. I enjoyed my visit to the Doi Tung Villa as we took time to listen to the audio guide and really look around. The local market on the way to the car park offers lots of local products, fruits, vegetables from the local hill tribe villagers. One big recommendation from me is to drive down from Doi Tung to Mae Sai past the Arboretum on route 1149, going through Pha Hee village. The route is one of the most beautiful on the Thai-Myanmar border, driving past a Burmese border outpost & seeing Myanmar's mountains of Shan State.
