What to do and see in Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai Province: The Best Lessons & Workshops

March 18, 2022 Augustus Redeker

You could spend your whole Chiang Mai vacation exploring the famous Night Bazaar. Once you’ve exhausted the art of the cheerful haggle, however, there’s plenty more to explore. The National Museum and Botanic Garden are great places to soak up some local culture and to breathe in the delicate fragrance of Thai orchids. In the city’s center, the remains of ancient walls embrace over 30 temples. Limber travelers can climb 300 stairs to Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, an ornate Buddhist temple in the hills.

My husband and I took a 2-day Thai massage course with Sabai De Ka. Out instructor can speak very good English and she was very patient to teach us and show us how to do the moves. She also has a good sense of humor. The course is quite intensive as we need to learn 105 poses in 2 days. We were given a booklet with some black & white photos and we need to write down our own notes while the teacher showed us how to do. Then, it's our turns to practice. We enjoyed the classes a lot!

In small classes of 2 MAX, Miss Wanna takes you through almost 100 steps of a traditional Thai massage which covers most body areas. You end up with a book full of pictures and your own notes for later use. Practice this on someone and they will love it. Don't go near the 20 per class massage schools. I did wish Miss Wanna would give a simple certificate through, even if it were an emailed PDF file showing attendance. Good value for 8 hours over 2 days.

Chiang Mai Photo Workshops

Do you want to learn how to get the most from your camera? Or just find some of the best locations in and around Chiang Mai to shoot photos? We run workshops designed to teach you how to enjoy your camera more and get stunning results. We'll also take you places most tour guides will not. We started these workshops because we see so many tourists who are not confident using their cameras. Modern cameras are full of incredible technology with many automatic settings. These are great for making snapshots. But you can do better than that. You can learn to use your camera to create images with feeling. Photos tell a story and really communicate your travel experience. I have over 25 years experience as a professional photographer. Please visit our website to read details of the workshops and make a booking.

I spent a very enjoyable and informative afternoon at Suranat’s leather workshop. I learned the basics of making a document wallet which I’m rather proud of! Suranat was welcoming and professional and was good at teaching. I liked that he had a good sense of humour too, it was fun. I feel confident now to take this skill further, buy myself some tools and try this at home.
