Mawsmai Cave

There are two caves here. One is recently found and one is old. Both of them worth a visit. They are in almost their natural state and still well lit. It was an adventure for children and they enjoyed it very much. One caution though: people who have spine, knee or hip problem or are physically unfit should not go through it.

Thangkharang Park

Reviewed By evans111 - New Delhi, India

Thang Kharang is the name of the vilage and literally means burning fish. In olden times on weekly market day fires were built and fresh whole fish were skewered and roasted around these fires. The fish mainly came from East Pakistan now Bangladesh and was reputed to be fresh and very tasty. The park situated in this village maintained by the Forest Deptt Of the State Govt is an example of how well organisations can be run if persons employed are dedicated and true to their work. I think the Meghalaya Government should take this park as a living example and import it to all its Departments as a learning and doing experience. Very very simple and rustic persons maintain the park but their pride to produce a haven of bliss for the weary tourist is highly commendable. The park is truly an island of Peace, Beauty & Joy. The view of Bangladesh and the valley on a clear day is something to experience.I commend the workforce of the Park for their loyalty and devotion to the conservation of Nature.
