Lady of the Lake

Reviewed By Ilikefinefood

We took the Lady of the Lake to Stehekin for the day trip ( fast boat ) out on Chelan. The views were amazing and the history given by the staff on the ride were appreciated and full of details. The boat has hot coffee, cider and a few snacks. It is handicap accessible and has a bathroom that is good sized. The seating area was comfy and heated. We stopped at Fields Landing, Lucerne & then Stehekin. We checked web sites, reviews etc prior to leaving today. The lack of updates is not the Lady’s fault ~ however EVERYTHING in Stehekin was closed when we arrived & we had anticipated having lunch at the bakery. So we get there & this is an all day trip and now no food. I know it’s our job to check ~ but it would be GREAT if there were updates in the lobby in Chelan ~ or the ticket sales lady provided customers with some idea of what to expect on arrival. That’s my one tip ~ pack a lunch for the picnic area and soak up the view! Good for all ages and all times of the year, well worth it!

Beebe Bridge Park

This park on the Columbia River features swimming, tennis, camping and more.

Reviewed By tanners47 - Seattle, WA

We walked a bit down the road from the park at the Beebe Springs Natural reserve area. This area used to be an apple orchard and is being restored so it will return to be a natural habitat for fish, birds and other wildlife right next to the Columbia River. It takes less than an hour to walk in the area and no one else was there except for one person sitting on a bench and enjoying the sounds and smells of the area. There are several benches dispersed in the area so that people can do just that.

We were very impressed by a stunning metal sculpture of a Native American on a horse holding a salmon.

Pets can come on a leash. If they area quiet, it is much easier for travelers to hear and see what is around them.

Lake Chelan State Park

Reviewed By Steve F - Bellevue, Washington

Washington state parks are slowly being run into the ground by a lack of staffing and poor organization. We paid $43 to reserve a campsite for one night, only to find another family occupying our site when we arrived. Apparently the self registration option is not in synch with the online system. There was no one working at the office to resolve the issue but we tracked someone down who was cleaning the restroom and she was very helpful.

If you lucky enough to have a campsite along the water, you are in for a treat. These are some of the best campsites I've ever seen, with lots of room for water fun and gorgeous views of the lake and surrounding mountains. The other sites are more mundane and the area for trailer and RV park is quite cramped. Bathrooms have running water and coin operated showers. There's a decent café across the highway from the entrance.

We were celebrating my Husband's birthday and were staying at the Lake Chelan state park campground. This was in a perfect location close to the campground and a winery with restaurant location. The view was breath taking and we enjoyed dinner and the facilities. The winery was closed but we did venture back as we were leaving town. The meal was delicious. You will not find a better combination of great view, great food, and great wind.

Chelan Estate Winery and Vineyard

Those rare places that can grow grapes, that can produce world class wines, have much in common. A certain look, a certain feel, and the right soils, permeate these lands. Many are graced by the moderating influences of a great body of water. It was only a matter of time before vineyards came to the banks of Lake Chelan and indeed grapes have been grown here for decades. We started a small experimental vineyard in the early 1990’s. The results were mixed. But the critical lessons were learned. The grapes would survive the winters. The influence of the lake in both moderating winter cold and summer heat was clear. The growing season is warm but shorter in days. Selection of grape varieties would need to match those conditions leading some to believe that Lake Chelan would become exclusively a white wine region, hardly the case. It is true, Lake Chelan will never be noted for the late ripening reds like Cabernet Sauvignon but, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Syrah and many other reds will flourish here.Armed with the results of the test vineyard, we purchased nearly eight acres on the cooler South Shore. In the spring of 2000 we planted Pinot Noir, Merlot, Chardonnay and Viognier. The assumptions we made have proven correct. The vineyard thrives and we welcome you taste our wines and to judge for yourself if we made the right choices. We invite you to bring your picnic and embrace our gorgeous lake and mountain views.

It is Chocolate and Wine weekend here in Chelan. Came to Chelan Esates Winery and Vineyard. This is the second oldest winery in Chelan. There is a beautiful view of the lake down below. In the summer time there is outdoor seating. The wines here are very good...love the Pinot and the Merlot. Today they had two types of chocolates to go with the wine. Nice!!!

Lovely outside tasting area with "small bites", "medium bites", and "large bites" to accompany the wines. They have a set flight of 3 wines for $5, but you can also create your own selection list (this option is not advertised, so be sure you ask your server). A fun wine cave is available to explore, and there are some very good wines, especially red blends. Put this one on your list for sure.
