We visited Treehouse on a beautiful snowy Saturday afternoon. What an amazing location, the facilities were unbelievably nice with a live band was playing. Staff was super friendly and the beer was delicious. I don’t know if I would’ve had such a great experience if we had to wait out side in the snow but I was glad we didn’t have to. Just wish we had more beer to choose from to take home with us. We would return for another visit.

Home to one of the largest collections of ophthalmic products in the world, the museum is a tribute to both the evolution of optics and the effects the innovations have had to improve our everyday lives.

I have had the opportunity to visit museums all over this world. Optical Heritage Museum is in a word a Treasure sure to inspire history buffs and anyone with eyes! It's packed with local anecdotes and displays scientific instrumentation in the development in Optometry and fiber optics: some currently the gold standard. Dick Whitney conveys his passion-in fact our visit marked his first day of employment at AO 43 years ago. The quality is as robust as The Smithsonian with free admission. I'm especially fascinated by the display of the eyeglass frames worn by Ben Franklin, JFKennedy, movie stars and beyond. If you're visiting Old Sturbridge Village be sure to add this stop just 5 miles away in Southbridge.

Fiskdale sounds as though it’s some remote place. It isn’t. Fiskdale is part of Sturbridge.
My interest in visiting St. Anne's Shrine was mainly to see the special exhibit of Russian icons. Many icons in the exhibit dated from the 19th century.
It was a very well done exhibit and worth the trip to see them as works of art for a person of any religious faith.
The exhibit was easy access. It was though the back of the gift shop.
I did go around the grounds. It’s a well-kept site. The grounds are quiet and serene as the shrine is away from the main road. Even a non-Catholic can enjoy a contemplative religious experience here.
The bookstore/gift shop was nice. Most of the merchandise was religious in nature. I got some postcards and a couple of prayer cards that were appropriate for any Christian.
This attraction is a hidden gem.
I rate the site and the exhibit at 4.50.
I highly recommend a visit to this shrine even if it’s just to see the exhibit.

Barely better than it's neighbor Hillcrest CC, Pine Ridge is an 18 hole course with some interesting holes but needs some grooming. The kitchen has food ranging from terrific to less than edible depending on who the cook is on your day. Pro shop is always friendly. Parking can be a challenge.

What a beautiful hiking trail area and awesome climbing rocks! The rocks are huge and there are places to climb and explore. There are clearly marked trails and trail maps posted so you won't get lost. You must be able to hike as there are some flat trails; however the majority of the trails are for a more advanced hiker. The rocks could be a bit dangerous for younger children, but there are many great places for smaller children to explore. This is a state park so there is no camping, but you could enjoy a picnic here by the pond. Very pretty views and information in the rock house about the wildlife you may see. This is a great place to enjoy for an hour or two with your family. There is no admission fee.

En route to the Indian Princess paddle-wheeler’s dock, we got a brief tour of the Indian Ranch.
Indian Ranch was built as a campground on the shores of Lake Webster, formerly known by the Nipmuck people as:
Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg.
Now, it also features an outdoor concert venue with a relatively small covered stadium and open-air metal bleachers. The combination of mixed seating supposedly held 3,000 people. The stage was relative small. We were given the concert schedule. The Charlie Daniels Band was there Sept. 9th. Bret Michaels was there Sept.10th. Other big names in the 2017 season included Pat Benetar, The Marshall Tucker Band, Eddie Money, Huey Lewis & The News, Josh Turner and Dwight Yoakam.
In the adjacent area, a large building was under construction. We learned that it was to be a restaurant with large picture windows overlooking the lake.
And, its fourth feature is the Indian Princess Mississippi River-style paddle-wheeler.
In all, it was developing into a very nice facility.
We enjoyed our time here very much.
With what exists there now and what is to come soon, we rate the Indian Ranch at 5.0.

Be sure to explore the waters on both sides of the road by paddling through the tunnel. Once you paddle past the swimming area you are on an undeveloped pond with active beavers down the far end. The other end has lots of waterfowl and you can get out at the dam to take a good look at it. Minimal powered boat traffic.
9. Clara Barton Birthplace

Visitors to the birthplace are guided through the historic house as they learn about Clara Barton's role as a Civil War battlefield nurse and as founder of the American Red Cross. The museum displays items which belonged to Miss Barton, including her Civil War field desk and a quilt signed by Civil War veterans.

I visited the Clara Barton birthplace in June of 2012. It is located in a peaceful area tucked next to an idyllic summer camp. The tour guide gave me a wonderful tour of the house and I even got to see a document signed by Abraham Lincoln! I learned so much I didn't know about Clara Barton and was impressed with how the soldiers of that era showed so much respect and gratitude to her by making her a quilt. Lovely place to visit.

Notre Dame Church is a brilliant example of Rococo Architecture, an impressive place of worship or just to enjoy the beauty. Each stone was purchased from the surplus of the Spanish American War for $1.00 each from the U.S. Government. Secretary of State William Leonard Marcy willed his family's Estate for the site of new parish. Ask for a tour- Margaret Ferrand Office Manager.

Amazing if u like churches. This was built with old immigrant labor back in the day. Cool to vist but not an attraction. Its a church
