What to do and see in Charleston, South Carolina (SC): The Best Ghost & Vampire Tours

January 9, 2022 Nicolette Lion

Historic Charleston is bursting with Southern charm and hospitality. The city feels a bit like it’s suspended in time, thanks to its antebellum architecture and surrounding plantation landscapes. Take in incredible views of the Battery and the French Quarter as you stroll the Waterfront Park, then become inspired by the cultivated beauty of the gardens at Middleton Place. At night, try a ghost tour for an introduction to the spooky side of the city.

What could be better than a food tour combined with a ghost tour? Nothing! You will meet your guide in downtown Charleston for exclusive access to our haunted restaurants. We will visit up to 4 haunted restaurants and multiple haunted buildings along a walking route of downtown. At the restaurants, we have set up 1-3 food tastings per location. We will have private areas in dining rooms, bars, haunted basements, and pretty much anywhere we can find to sample food, spirits, and hear ghost stories. We will visit other historic and haunted buildings along the route and tell stories and give your bellies a few minute break from the samples. Our Haunted Food Tour in unlike any other food tour in Charleston. Tours last about 3 hours, cover less than a mile on a walking route, and have plenty of time spent inside haunted restaurants for food and stories.

Is this a walking brew tour with a side of ghosts or a ghost tour with a side of brews?? While guests will have to decide that for themselves, we can tell you this is not an average "sit there and shut up " tour, but rather an opportunity to engage back and forth with a local Charlestonian. As a combined bar and ghost tour guests will visit two different bars where complimentary appetizers will be served and the guide will provide drink recommendations. As part of the tour guests will also walk by and receive ghost stories near local graveyards and homes, some of which are over 200 years old. The tour will wind down at a hauntingly beautiful local park where one of the first female serial killers was hung. Don't stick around too long after the tour or you may end up a ghost yourself!

Could not recommend Capt. Bryan’s tours enough! He was so friendly and got our group to feel like old friends in the first 15 minutes of meeting each other! The groups are small by design and that made the afternoon so much more enjoyable, as we were all able to interact more (verses being at the back of some huge group unable to ask any questions!). We walked through beautiful Charleston, learned a little bit of (not your average) history, and drank some beers along the way! What more could you want?! If your in town I highly recommend meeting up with Bryan. We can’t wait to come back and go on his boat tour!

I offer great stories and good times! What makes this tour unique is that I can promise that you will be getting me, Adam Moore, as your tour guide. With some of the other larger tour companies you never know who your guide could be. When you book this tour you can be reassured that I will be your guide. This makes sure that you will be getting a licensed and engaging tour guide here in Charleston. In addition to that, most tours in Charleston will take out 20 people on a tour. I keep my tours smaller and max out at 14-15 people. By having smaller groups it allows my guests to have a more personalized and unique experience.

We have been on a few of these tours before, but Adam's tour was the best by far. There was something for everyone (Ages 8, 13, 39 & 44) to like on this tour. It was fresh, interesting and entertaining. Adam truly has a passion for his city, for his state and for history in general. I would definitely take a tour with him again and I highly recommend him if you are in Charleston. Two BIG thumbs up!!!

Outstanding guide. We were lucky to have only 7 people on our tour which gave us a chance to spend time diving deep into the history of Charleston. Geordie has a very extensive knowledge of the area and never once sounded like he had memorized a script. Super friendly. Super smart. Always had more to offer. We could have listened to him talk all day. Highly recommend taking any tour he offers. We will look for the books he has published on haunted Charleston. Wondering what he would suggest to read to learn more about the history of the Masons in the U.S. Thanks for an amazing morning!
