My father and I had a fantastic tour of the D-Day Beaches, Sainte-Mere-Eglise and Bayeux in October. Our tour guide was Sabrina, and she tailored the day to meet our interests - including taking us by the statue of Dick Winters and Brecort Manor. We even managed to squeeze in a tour of the Bayeux tapestries at the end of the day, which was followed by a recommendation for dinner at the best restaurant in Bayeux before our train ride back to Paris - Le Moulin de Galette. It was a quaint restaurant near an old watermill that served delicious crepes. The tour was the highlight of our time in France. The tour also felt very safe from a COVID perspective - there was hardly anyone at the sites, the guide wore a mask, kept social distance and regularly offered hand sanitizer; there was also a divider in the van between the guide and the two of us.

We will drive on the touristic road of the champagne area. You will enjoy views, discover the vineyards, landscapes of the area which are listed as UNESCO world heritage and go on with a champagne cellar visit and tasting. The vineyards are planted on the hillside of the mountain of Reims. At each stop, I will give you informations through funny stories and explain you why the place is unique but the Champagne too : the grappe varieties, the plants growing, the harvest and the most important the tasting ! My friend winemaker will welcome us at his place and we will visit his family exploitation. He will explain you his daily work and show you the different steps of production of champagne : from the press to the cellar going through the tanks room where the juices are stock waiting for the bottleling. We will save a lot of time for the tasting which is the most important. I also orgonise more complete tours in an all day with lunch and visits.

He is highly knowledgable and passionate when it comes to all things champagne and not to mention, he's easy on the eyes. Can't wait to do a tour with A la Francaise again in the future :)

Attention to detail is the least I can say about Clément our travel planner and guide. I run a company specialized in tourism, so believe me when I say, I am a critic. The van was impeccably clean, sanitized prior to our departure from the Paris Montparnasse train station and throughout our transportation to different destinations. A little footstool prepared and I did not even have time to open the door, as our host did it before me. Clément played the French classics on our way to Normandy and the lyrics of Edith Piaf, Aznavour and Brel were in the seat pocket to sing along! As for the itinerary, our priority was to meet local producers and 'the' expert on WW2 D-Day history as well as Monet's Garden at Giverny. From cider houses, to farm producers who make cheese out of raw milk as well as calvados, the main spirit to go with camembert cheese! The choice of hotel was perfect in Bayeux, a charming town untouched by the bombings of the war. There we spent 3 nights where we could stroll to the morning market and visit the cathedral with it's intriguing crypt. We met a hat maker, lace and embroidery artisans all forgotten hand-made crafts revived by locals in Bayeux! A sensory experience was passing by Giverny. We were lucky as we were practically the only ones there, advantages of the pandemic. An autumn portrait where the sun was low and soft at dusk. Words cannot express the emotions brought by the colors and romantic solitude which must inspired Monet. Next trip with Clément will be Honfleur and Mont Saint-Michel. I can't wait!

We did the tour in Corona times but everything went fine and we felt save. I absolutely recommend the tour if you want to explore the Champange region.

Do you know that my village of Aÿ - which is only 5 minutes from Epernay and 35 minutes from Reims - was the main center of the Champagne industry and still has a very special place ? The kings of France had their own presses there from the 16th century and the wines of Champagne were formerly called " Wines of Aÿ ". Its historic hillsides are now classified as World Heritage by Unesco and the vineyard is classified at the highest in the appellation : Grand cru. We will meet a family of producer/grower who will open the doors of their cellar and winery to discover the champagne making process and their specificities, which will be followed by a tasting of course ! Do you know who Dom Pérignon really is ? you will be surprised by the real story ... I will show you in the vineyards where all his experiments took place and where the first Champagne cellars he dug is located .... we will go then thank him in the church where he officiated and where he is now rest forever !

Cross the famous Avenue de Champagne of Epernay called the most expensive Avenue in the World with its 200 million bottles in cellars, wander through the villages classified at the highest of the Champagne appellation and in front of exceptional sites such as Chateau de Saran, the ultra private property where LVMH receives its biggest customers and VIPs ... Visit families of producers and taste many 100% Grand cru Champagnes (min.6) : natural champagne with no dosage, old vines, vintages, aged in oak barrels... And that without forgetting to thank Dom Pérignon in the church of the renowned village of Hautvillers called the "Champagne cradle" where he rests. We will not fail to stop on the hillsides classified as World Heritage by Unesco, in one of the most beautiful panoramic views, and where Dom Pérignon has carried out his experiments, to taste other famous drinks such as Ratafia, Fine of Marne and Marc of Champagne... Believe me, you will be an expert in Champagne after this tour !

Delphine was an awesome tour guide. She met us at the arranged point at the train station. We went to Pommery as Veuve was closed but there was no disappointment . Delphine’s English was excellent. She’s a local with a wealth of knowledge about Reims, it’s rich history, plus she knows all things champagne from vine to glass. Not only did we learn about everything about champagne and it’s history but also learned over a magnificent lunch the many things about champagne from the nose, glasses, pairings and how tastes can change with food. Rather than drop us back at the meeting point after the tour finished, Delphine went the extra again and delivered us back to our accomodation. There’s so much more to tell and all of it great. If you’re considering a champagne tour with the lot, Delphine is your tour guide. Neil & Karen, Australia
