Every year during the holidays the park hosts amazing drive though amid beautiful lights depicting fairyland characters and landscape, including the Wizard of Oz, Santa’s workshop and what not. Its a great treat for kids and parents alike. Driving the loop at 10-20 mph, it takes about 30-40 min to complete the amazing experience.

This beautiful park may not have the showy attractions and amenities of many of the largest Fairfax County Parks, but it has so many different unique features to offer that it's worth a visit, no matter where in the country you are. Wander around the outbuildings and foundations of a historic farm, complete with mill and dairy, romp around wide fields, search for wildlife on wooded trails, goof around in the amphitheater, enjoy a picnic or a campfire, go fishing or look for turtles and herons in the lovely pond! There's also a playground, a working kitchen garden and beehives, many opportunities for birdwatching, a historic visitor center (currently closed), and a chance to watch low planes fly overhead. The wooded trails are especially lovely in the fall. COVID visitor tips: there's enough space here to keep your distance from others, thanks to relatively wide paths and a few wide open spaces, but the boardwalk area around the pond may get a little tight at times, especially when there's a party gathering under the gazebo or renting out the mill for a wedding or special event. The trails are relatively flat and easy to walk with masks on.

We took our grandchildren to the Cox Farms Fall Festival. It was a delight. There were more slides than you could shake a stick at. numerous things to climb, a goat feeding area (be aware the older goats can be agressively demanding), rope swings, corn field path, and hay ride. We went early when they opened which was a mistake - there were a lot of school groups which made for crowds and lines. After the groups left the lines got shorter. However we ended up being chased out by rain :( One recommendation - even though there is food available, the lines can be very long. I strongly recommend you carry snacks. However, the doughnuts are worth standing in line for. (The line is slow as they are cooking the doughnuts fresh)

I took my sister, mother, and father to the winery while they were visiting. They loved the display cases of artifacts available to view, which is a unique feature. I convinced my father to join my sister and me in a tasting, which was at a really good price. And we split a bottle of wine while sitting outside at a table enjoying the scenery on a gorgeous day. There are some typical foods for purchase (cheeses, crackers, etc). We went on a weekday, so it was quiet. They offer music and food truck on the weekends and have a family area if you want to bring the kids.
