Gosford Regional Gallery

Reviewed By planetogra - Tewantin, Australia

A hidden treasure with their Japanese Garden sublime. The cafe is good average fare with staff taking considerable care with Covid adherence. The Art Gallery was not open at time of our visit, but does have a strong reputation for its featured exhibitions. We took 40 minutes to enjoy strolling around the gardens supported by Gosford's sister city in Japan - EDOGAWA. This botanic garden would suffer from me trying to describe it in words. It is visually stunning with plenty of great photographic angles to capture.

Firescreek Fruit Wines

Firescreek Fruit Winery handcraft an innovative and diverse variety of fruit, flower and herb wines and offer the visitor an opportunity to sample many flavours and aromas. The winery is set in a beautiful rustic cellar door / production “tin shed” epitomizing the blending of old techniques with new ideas. The range of wines is constantly changing as the seasons change and so are the stunning gardens at Firescreek Winery set on 2.5 acres of lush grounds featuring rainforest skirting the property on the permanent creek, water Lilly ponds, numerous fruit trees and vines. It has the rustic feel of a Tuscan vineyard, combined with the lushness of temperate rainforest - all rolled into one. As the seasons change from winter to spring, summer and autumn the gardens at Firescreek unfold their ever-changing colours. Spring is full of the flush of new growth, brilliant young greens of the amber trees and willows; and the new leaves of the vineyard. Summer evenings are warm and the brilliant blues of agapanthus contrast with the crisp green lawn. Autumn is a season for gold and russet hues of the beautiful trees and the garden abounds in autumn foliage. Come and experience the versatility, abundance and richness on the Central Coast of NSW.

Fortunately, we were unexpectedly sent to this winery on our 8 day tour as the venue we were to go to, had closed due to fires in the volunteers' district area. On arrival I was taken back by the pleasant country atmoshpere. The winemaker is a very likeable lady, who gave us a tour of her garden and explained organic growing and her fruit, growing for wine making. They have a very lovely garden on an acreage and backed by large trees. We went into a very comfortable small building with a lovely window out over the garden. Here we were given seven tastings of her wine by both her and her husband. Their pretty little daughter was chatting while she painted on herself a red nose and brown cheeks of a reindeer as it was nearly Xmas. The wine was really enjoyable and we walked over to the cellar door to buy. I certainly enjoyed drinking fruit wines. Try a spritz with it.

Distillery Botanica

Reviewed By thewhereto - Sydney, Australia

Distillery Botanica is set up on the perfect site for a Gin distillery. This Central Coast Distillery is located in Erina on a 3 hectare site, which was once known as the Fragrant Gardens. The head distiller Philip Moore started out as a herbalist, initially taking over the gardens 10 years ago. Passion breeds success, for Philip has immersed himself in his passion for nature and his beautiful garden, utilising his knowledge to produce some highly regarded spirits. Philip has already achieved great success globally, producing award winning gins and coffee liqueurs. We aren't going to give too much away, but keep an eye on this distillery they have some exciting projects on the horizon. Moore's love for botanicals are on display in the gin offered by the distillery, many of the ingredients coming from the incredible garden on site at the distillery. Botanica Distillery is well worth visiting to enjoy the surrounds, to have a chat with Philip and to enjoy a tasting at the cellar door, which is open Wednesday to Sunday 10am-5pm. We sincerely appreciated the time Philip took to explain the history of his life, products, brand and distillery. Try the Dry Gin, a traditional style of gin that has taken a Gold medal at the London International Wine and Spirit Competition. It is certainly worth its accolades. There is also the Distillers Cut to be enjoyed with a tonic. The Roots and Leaves Dry Gin is a contemporary gin showcasing flavours inspired by Philip's Distillery garden. It's not all gin though. There are a variety of Liquers to enjoy, including the famous Mr Black Cold Brew Coffee Liquer, another award winner and a very popular spirit, for it it's sold internationally and at plenty of bars we know. The site also hosts 'Bar Botanica', just a stones throw from the cellar door, serving some fantastic gelato utilising flavours from the garden. This is operated by the Mr Goaty Gelato team. They also have food and coffees and the Garden is beautiful to sit in and enjoy your food. This was one of many highlights on our recent visit to the Central Coast. Not far from Sydney, plan a trip, book some accommodation and add Distillery Botanica to the itinerary.

I took my team to this venue for a team building activity. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us and the personalised service make the event that little bit special. Everyone in the team had a fantastic time and enjoyed the challenges of the varying climbs. Everyone had a go and whilst some were very good, everyone was able to conquer their own challenge. I would recommend this venue for any team, family or friends looking to do something different.
