The Mercer County Library in Celina houses a collection of minerals donated by the Langsdon family. You can visit the collection whenever the library is open or you can call or email to set up classes and tours. Classes are taught from PowerPoint and samples of minerals are provided for each person to look at. The demonstrations are fun and informative. We struck flint to make a spark, lit an LED, and felt cool jade on our skin. After we had our class, we toured the collection. It is the largest collection I've seen with lots of spectacular and rare minerals. Each of the kids were given a mineral to take home as well.
