Actun Tunichil Muknal

This remote cave is filled with relics left over from the Mayans.

Reviewed By 143trishc

My family and I visited Actun Tunichil Muknal June of 2019. This is not like a cave in the US where tourists visit. YOu must hike, cross rivers, swim across the pool at the entrance of the cave, wade up streams, squeeze through tight passages, climb rocks in you socks and up a ladder to reach the crystal maiden. Worth every second! It is so beautiful, amazing and tragic too. I am grateful for the experience, it was truly a trip of a lifetime.

Rio Bravo Forest Reserve

This reserve is home to several endangered species.

Reviewed By Tiffy_Bird - La Plata, United States

I visited part of Rio Bravo when I explored La Milpa Archaeological Site and areas surrounding La Milpa Field Station/Ecolodge. My birding tour guide took us there, and I am so grateful it was on the itinerary. (It's a bit remote, so I probably wouldn't have gone if I were traveling on my own.) The birding was tremendous, if challenging in the dense foliage. We spotted too many species to list here. I do remember vividly the Red-capped Manakins, trogons, and several fly-overs by an Ornate Hawk Eagle. The band of spider monkeys was an exceptional encounter, too. I especially loved birding around the unexcavated Mayan ruins. Hiking isn't especially difficult, but be mindful of those tree roots. Don't "binoculate" upward and walk at the same time! Someone in my group did that and fell over. Bottom line: if you love wildlife, this is your place.

I lived at Che Chem ha Logde. So my first tour was visiting the cave on the property of the family with William as a very good tour-guide.He has a big knowledge about mayan people living in this beautiful cave. There are many pottery to see, some broken and some in a astonishing good state. Hiking up to the entrance is easy. And after going down we had a excellent lunch at the lodge. A good trip with meeting very friendly people.

Crystal Cave

We had an excellent tour of Crystal Cave with Israel from Wildland Belize. He was an exceptional tour guide-- we learned so much and he pointed out all the Mayan artifacts and unique cave formations throughout our tour! It's a challenging hike through the cave but if you have good fitness it's worth it!

Belize Raptor Center

Reviewed By LRazzon - Istanbul, Turkey

We had a few hours before dark after visiting ATM, and we decided to give it a go. Boy am I glad. You get to see raptors from up close, you get to meet people, volunteers, and when all is said and done, you leave in a "feel-good" mood. Entrance is free, you'd need a car to get there, any donation is appreciated as they are a non-profit and donations go for the food and well being of the raptors. This is one place I would not hesitate to visit again in San Ignacio.

My mom and I went for a visit to the Belize Botanical Gardens and we were so impressed. We were greeted by Roxi upon arrival who made us feel so welcome and set us up with a guided tour. The grounds were truly nature beauty at its best. We had a wonderful guide named Enilson, who was asked many questions by those in our group and he was so knowledgeable. It was such a lovely morning and I can highly recommend it to anyone that is even slightly interested in local Belizean flora. I will certainly be back again.
