Home to a number of species of rare birds and other wildlife.
The Saint Lucia National Trust takes care of every detail that helps protect the natural habitat of the endemic species and other fauna found on this small island off the south east coast of Saint Lucia. It also takes care that you have informative and lively guides, a safe journey by sea to and from the island and from the shore to the highest point (c.400 ft?) and back to the beach for a swim. A unique place well worth the planning in advance to visit! Bring water/juice, photography gear, leave nothing physical behind and take away memories of a fabulous experience of conservation in practice and amazing views!

We did the hike in February, it takes about 1.5 hrs of up and down medium difficulty maintained circuit trail. Great views and the forest is beautiful, a lady who works there was our guide and was very nice to talk to. It was a nice hike as others were either too short (Tet Paul is about a 30 minute walk) or too long. You do not need a 4x4 to get up here, we had a Chevrolet Spark. It's $10usd pp for the guided hike. We had running shoes which were fine, anything but flipflops are workable. Thoroughly enjoyed. We didn't see any parrots BUT - for parrot viewing we found Morne Tabac Parrot Sanctuary, just above Soufriere (5 mins past the Beacon restaurant). Saw loads of Parrots and had an amazing time, might be easier to get to for cruise guests. There's a hiking trail but you can also just walk to the viewing platform. It's $5usd pp. Definitely recommend.

Visitors to Morne Fortune, which means "Hill of Good Luck," will find 18th-century Fort Charlotte located here along with sweeping views of Castries and surrounding area.
We do our first tour stop here on our way to Soufriere, the view is amazing of Castries and the cruises, was worth every minute the stop to see the island and take some pictures.

Perfect size and beautiful views! Don't let reviews of rough waves get you discouraged. Usually every day by mid-morning, it was a green flag (safe to swim)! Soft, clean sand!
