Castlegar Sculpturewalk is an annual exhibition of outdoor sculptures, located on a pleasant walking tour in downtown Castlegar. Viewers are encouraged to vote for their favourite sculpture via ballot - the winner of the People's Choice award is purchased by the City for the permanent collections. All of the artworks are available for sale or lease. Ballots/maps are located in red ballot boxes along the route (the start of the route is at the Kootenay Market (635 Columbia Avenue), though you can begin the walk from anywhere. Ballots/maps are also available at the Castlegar Chamber of Commerce, City Hall, or the Kootenay Gallery.
I stumbled across this walk over the weekend and was blown away by some of the sculpture pieces. This is an easy walk with plenty of interpretive signs along the way. I really liked the Indigenous Camas preservation area the most

great golfing venue, superb scenery abounds, the 19th Hole Bar and Grill serves great food at fair prices, great place to have a snack in between rounds or a full meal after your game, they also serve a great breakfast for the early tee-off players....I would recommend this course to anyone...and if you do go be sure to try the Korean wings...fabulous and the staff are friendly and knowledgable

A fascinating look at an important part of Canadian history. The Centre contains a number of buildings, some original and some recreated from other Doukhobor villages. Very comprehensive displays about their history, beliefs, and daily life. A short drive and walk nearby is the suspension bridge that the Doukhobors in the area built by hand. Eugene in the office is super knowledgeable about his Doukhobor heritage, he really adds to the whole experience. One of the best Canadian historic sites I have ever visited, make it a destination if you're in BC.

A visit to this island via the suspension bridge and a visit to a replica of the house Zukerberg and his wife lived in, is well worth it. The bridge is good fun to cross, the trails are well marked and there are spots to sit, relax and watch the river's current tell you of the indigenous peoples who used it for their survival.
