I have long wanted to visit the Vietti Winery. I made a reservation for 4 people months in advance. We were greeted by Lucia and started the tour on their private piazza overlooking the barolo vineyards in the valley below. What a spectacular view of the barolo region in Piemonte. Lucia led us on a guided tour down into the winery. We spent time in the fermentation room, cask room, barrel room and their bottling and production area. We returned to the sleek and modern tasting room where we were treated to a broad range of both white and red Vietti wines including some library wines. I especially enjoyed the barolo. barberesco, and barbera. Long known for their long aging barolos, their wine maker Luca Currado has developed an outstanding portfolio of barbera d'asti and barber d'alba wines too. I had no idea how wonderful a barbera could be until I tried some of Luca's newer efforts. I am now. on the hunt in the US for good sources his barbera. The true highlight of the trip was getting to meet Luca Currado who oversees the vineyards and is the wine maker. He was extremely warm and welcoming. He treated us like family and really made our visit extra special. I would recommend the Vietti Winery to anyone who comes to Piemonte to visit the barolo region. The region and the winery are Bellissimo!

“Strada del Barolo e dei grandi vini di Langa” (Barolo Great Wines of Langa Trail) has the purpose of enhancing, promoting and energising the territory where the valuable wines of Langa are produced. The Trail gathers the municipalities of Alba, Barolo, Castiglione Falletto, Cherasco, Diano d’Alba, Dogliani, Grinzane Cavour, La Morra, Monchiero, Monforte d’Alba, Montelupo Albese, Novello, Roddi, Roddino, Rodello, Serralunga d’Alba, Sinio and Verduno, in an extraordinary journey into the very heart and soul of the territory, where the main character is, indeed, the Wine. But in the background reigns the great patrimony of culture and tradition, the exuberance of nature with its enchanting hills and vineyards. Everything is flavoured by the strong, yet warm, character of the people of Langa who are always willing to kindly welcome visitors and lovers of good wine and food within their cellars, restaurants, b&b, hotels, workshops and museums.

The Communal Cellar of Castiglione Falletto with food, offers for tasting and selling the wines of the prestigious producers of our land, even by the glass, combined with traditional Piedmontese food.
In the heart of the Barolo wine-producing region, the Cantina Comunale dei Produttori di Castiglione Falletto (Municipal [Wine] Cellar of Producers of Castiglione Falletto) offers excellent wine tastings in a cozy and typical Italian canteen, with a friendly, receptive and informal service. The wine tastings available are listed on a blackboard at the entrance of this canteen and are generally combined in trios that can include Dolcetto d'Alba, Barbera d'Alba, Nebiolli and.... the noble Barolo, considered one of the best red wines in the world! We chose tasting a trio of Barolos from different producers and harvests together with an excellent homemade pasta with truffles! Everything was excellent. We will definitely return on a next visit to the Strada Romantica delle Langhe! Also, it is worth strolling through the streets of Castiglione Falletto. If you have time, be sure to spend a few days in Alba (the city I fell in love with, which I discovered to be my soulmate city!), a good base point for getting to know the Langha region. Discover more vineyards along the beautiful Strada Romantica delle Langhe.
