Castellammare del Golfo (Sicilian: Casteddammari; Latin: Emporium Segestanorum / Emporium Aegestensium) is a town and comune in the Trapani Province of Sicily. The name can be translated as "Sea Fortress on the Gulf", stemming from the medieval fortress in the harbor. The nearby body of water conversely takes its name from the town, and is known as Gulf of Castellammare.

In the morning I walked from Scopello to the Baglio and when we finally went, it was in car. The parking is large enough and cost Euro 1/hour or 5/day The area is divided in two; one side is "find your own space" and the other is "which lounge chair WITH umbrella would you like". We spent a few hours at the Baglio an enjoyed the water, the sun and the food/beer available from a tiny restaurant (almost the size of a container). Be aware that the beach is not sandy but rather rocky. As is the case with many of these cove-like beaches, it is advised to get a pair of rubber shoes.... you will thank me later. Regards and enjoy, Andreas P.S. - bring a book

Tower Bennistra, also called Bennisti, sitting atop a rock formation high above the village of Scopello, neat the Zingaro Natural Reserve, can be reached by foot starting from Scopello. Built in the Sixteenth century, it was part of a defensive system of towers. Turned into a ruin over the centuries, it was restored in 2015 and is now definitely worth the hike.
