What to do and see in Cassis, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur: The Best Gear Rentals

April 10, 2022 Frederic Celentano

In the heart of Calanques National Park, Cassis offers visitors a glimpse of life in a quaint Provencal fishing village. Hop on a sightseeing boat to experience the Cassis Calanques by water, or enjoy the turquoise coastline from a pebble beach. There’s much to explore by foot, too. Admire the pastel-colored houses lining the picturesque harbor, drift into the village’s charming shops and cafes, and take in the scenic views of the French Riviera from the many vantage points along the way.

We wanted the flexibility of having our own boat to tour the Calanques, choosing where and when we went and give the kids (and parents) the chance to swim, dive and jump from the cliffs. We rented two 'Alligators' from JCF and after reserving the boat before lunch, once we we ready, we headed back to the dock (JCF can be found 100yds down the dock, behind the Tourist Information office). After a quick briefing we were off. My advice is to visit 2-3 of the Calanques. No.3 (En Vau) was the best and the busiest. Returning the boat was as easy as setting-off. No hassle. Good people. Good value.
