We represent the legacy of our Grandfather Gerardo Zambrano, united in three “hatos” (hatos = Ranch / farm): Mata de Palma, Altamira & Montana, which form a natural reserve of almost 9.000 hectares. We are located in the beautiful flooding savannahs and gallery forests of “Los Llanos” around San Luis de Palenque, 90 minutes away from Yopal, capital of the state of Casanare.
This 9,000 hectare family-owned nature reserve is located in the Eastern plains of Colombia. Most other large ranches (hatos) tend to be difficult to access (4-5 hour drive) but El Encanto de Guanapalo is easy to get to from Yopal by car (aprox 2 hr drive) or small plane. El encanto de guanapalo has different accomodation options and many local experiences to chose from. These experiences include learning about the local llanero, or cowboy, culture, enjoy a safari and get a chance to see capybaras, deer, birds, caiman, jaguar, giant anteaters, many endemic birds, etc. Being a horse back rider myself, the Eastern plains are also the perfect place to enjoy some of the most exciting adventures on horseback. From riding across wild rivers, to herding cattle on the vast plains, the llanos is probably the best place in the country to go horseback riding, and in El Encanto de Guanapalo you can ride for hours and get a chance to see the incredible landscapes, sunsets and local wildlife. In addition El Encanto de Guanapalo has a great wildlife conservation program. I truly recommend El Encanto de Guanapalo to any of the nature and adventure enthusiasts that are looking for unique off the beaten track experiences!
