For my family, weather is important in visiting this Austrian mountain glory. After waiting for a sunny, blue skies and temperature above 25"C, we headed-off for a road trip from Munich, Germany. Car entrance fee € 36.50. But it was worth it. Every curve is fascinating unfolding of mountain views just as in the postcards. There is always a viewpoint for taking photos along the way. Serpentine roads. Snowcapped mountain tops. Delightful indeed. For a landscape lover, this is one terrific park to be. Restaurants are in strategic places for stops. Roads are well-maintained. This was our short covid break. Glad we did it !

The next view I think is one of the most impressive is the Malta-Hochalm-Straße. The entrance to the road is at Brandstatt 35. To reach Mazalan, you will have to go north to Highway 100 and drive it until you reach the A10. Continue on A10 north-west to exit 130-Gmund towards Gmund. At the first circle turn left, in the second square continue straight and continue on the straight road until you reach the toll point of the landscape road. The travel time is about 45 minutes. The road is more challenging than the first route of the day, including several tunnels and sharp turns. The road runs for about 14.5 kilometers and ends at the Kölnbrein Dam, the largest dam in Austria, which rises 200 meters and stretches about 600 meters. The dam is also the highest dam in Austria, at an altitude of 1,933 meters above sea level. Guided tours take place every hour between 10: 00-17: 00. Tours are reasonably priced, and children aged 5 and under enter for free. The trip to and from the dam takes about 40 minutes. After you finish your visit to the dam and drive back to the starting point of the scenic road, you can return back on your trail to the town of Gmund

Considered the Most beautiful lake in Austria with the best drinking water quality. All kinds of watersport activities from May to late September. Try to avoid the high season from July-August. Besy spots are Pörtschach and Velden and Dellach (for GTI) fans.
