A great day or night dive, the pier is home to a thriving population of marine and coral life.
Awesome place to Scuba dive! Great variety of sea life including lobsters, sea horses, crabs and turtles.

Harborfront street lined with brightly painted 18th century buildings that today, house boutiques, art galleries and sidewalk cafes.
Beautiful buildings and great atmosphere. We enjoyed having drinks/snacks at both Handelskade and Otrobanda (where some places provide great views of Handelskade).

Very clean, nicely organized and when cars are not passing by (usually in the evening) pretty serene as well! We visited during January 2021 COVID era so it was pretty dead in this area other than the weekend evenings which made the walks and sunsets even more enjoyable. Plenty of area to stay in the shade during the day, enjoy the sunset in the evening or just take a nice walk along the shoreline - perfect! TIP: Do check out the restaurants in the area or the Vieques Gift shop - full package area of the island as you also have a small beach in the front or simply more to the east where the pier is.

Snorkeling under the pier is great, but creepy for some! There is a breakwater which keeps the waves down. The water is 40 feet deep there, and on a good day you can see clearly to the bottom. Every time I have gone there I have seen at least 3 or 4 turtles. Just be patient and keep moving around. If there are fisherman on the pier with lines in the water it's really no big deal at all- they are generally off the very far end. Lots of fish, especially near the outer end. The way to access it: there is a wide-open gate you drive through about 50? yards from where the pier starts. Stop here and park. There is a set of concrete stairs off of the left (west) side leading down into the water. It's about a 50 yard swim out to the pier. If you're squeamish about going it alone, call one of the snorkeling outfits on the island to guide you. I can recommend one if you contact me. Enjoy!

La Guancha is one of the hottest hang out spots in Ponce, literally, it's right next to the beach. Take a trip to this boardwalk facing the Caribbean Sea to find an array of fun things to do. Start by having a meal at some of the kiosks turned restaurants, and then have a drink at one of the bars. You can also buy some seeds and feed the birds, fish, and pelicans that are always around the boardwalk grounds. Finish the visit by going up the Guancha Lighthouse and enjoying the view.
La Guancha had wonderful restaurants. I had a feast for a king with the best Chillo con Mofongo rico! I also had other wonderful appetizers and almost overate. The place IS very family friendly and saw innocent girls having fun just like at home. It was well lighted and had some areas you can look over the Ocean at night. Its a place to really be happy even if some of the noise is a little loud.
