Truly inspiring and beautifully imagined small, privately owned and operated museum. Owners own personal collections ignite memories from childhood and almost forgotten 20thc artefacts....Lovely intimate place, amazing value at $4. Dont forget to check out the shop where you can buy a fabulous hand-hewn wooden jigsaw too:)

Devine store in a magically historic building filled with the most delightful things.Bespoke candles and cutlery, gorgeous knits, stunning handmade metal sculptures, paintings, gifts and delicious treats galore. Belinda certainly has the “touch” it’s filled with old time pieces and styled so beautifully with native treasures she has foraged from her travels. So many wonderful things I didn’t want to leave. I will most definitely be back.

We went out to have a look at Carcoar Dam. It is such a pretty spot. There were a few people camped there. There are amenities with cold showers and there is a tank for drinking water. We stopped and read about the power generating wind turbines which was very interesting. We also drove up and had a look at the dam itself. There is also a launching ramp for boating or putting in a kayak. The dam isn’t very large do a kayak would be good. We put the foot in the memory banks if we pass by again and want a quiet place to stay off the highway.

Historic Catholic Church in historic small town. Mass on Saturday evenings.
This former Catholic parish (now part of the St James' Blayney parish) was established in 1847. The sandstone High Gothic style Church of the Immaculate Conception was built in 1870, so in 2020 will be 150 years old. It is a beautiful building at which Saturday evening Vigil Masses continue to be held on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. The Church is often open for prayer but when I walked up the hill early on a Friday morning from the splendid village of Carcoar (population just 200), it was closed. There are pleasant gardens at the front and even the fence is beautifully constructed. Would make a wonderful wedding Church, by arrangement with the parish centre in Blayney. Donations are always welcome and can be mailed to Balyney's St James or handed in there.
