The dramatic headland and lush, unspoiled rainforest of Cape Tribulation makes for some exquisite surroundings, stretching all the way down to Cape Tribulation Beach and boardwalk. Four resorts and some backpacker hostels cater to the few (and happy!) visitors who make it this far north. Take charters to the nearby Great Barrier Reef, stroll on guided night walks, go kayaking, jungle surfing or swimming—or cruise with the crocodiles.

2 or 4-hour Guided And Interpreted Walking Tours Through The Centrepiece Of The Oldest Rainforest In The World.
Our guided walk with Neil was fantastic - such great knowledge and expertise. Couldn't recommend doing the guided walk with him more.

Part of Queensland Wet Tropics World Heritage area.
The Daintree National Park is huge. Technically it spans both parts of the river which you have to cross by ferry in your car. Forget a tour company - do yourself a favor and see it on your own. The roads were easy to drive and on our day trip from Port Douglas we visited Cape Tribulation (beach and lookout for over an hour - at times the only ones on this pristine beach), we hiked one of the boardwalks and was a cassowary and her baby, we visited the famous ice cream place and had amazing tropical ice cream and walked around the property looking at the trees, and we visited the lookout for views. That was a full day. We would have needed more time to see/do more in Daintree. Maybe next time we'll consider spending the night. It's where 2 UNESCO world heritage sites meet and there's plenty to do here but I recommend do it yourself by car. I watched the way the small tours operate and I would have been miserable on their prescribed highlights. One of the tours didn't even let them people but 5 minutes on Cape Tribulation beach - what a pity for them!

A pleasant walk through the rainforest with information boards and leading down to the fabulous Myall beach. There is a picnic area and two sets of toilets so well worth a stroll

This beach is gorgeous, we are so lucky in Australia to have access to these amazing beaches. No swimming though the dinosaurs are lurking!

most interesting walk and cooling in the shade, very different from most bush walks as it was through the mangroves

We visited this beach on our day trip to Cape Trib from Port Douglas. It’s very similar to the other beaches in the area and, as always, beware the crocs!

The drive to Cape Tribulation is amazing, the ferry ride in your car across the river is just the start of it. The road to travel is around 30km once you have completed the 10 min ferry trip. The drive is picturesque it’s where the ocean meets the rainforest

OK I admit to being a bit of a bug nerd. I love the variety and cleverness of members of the insect and arachnid world. Who would have thought that one of the worlds foremost beetle collectors would house his collection on Turpentine Road in Diwan? Almost the middle of nowhere. I guess he is well know among beetle collectors. Be warned: he does not have any spiders on display. So if you are looking to identify one that you saw in your hotel closet, you will not get an answer here. But if you want to see an amazing variety of beetles and moths, don't miss this stop.
