Visitors can tour this 17th-century canal-side house in Amsterdam, which is filled with furnished period rooms and works of art that were donated by the owner Louisa Willet-Holthuysen to the city in 1895.
This house is beautiful and I was in the mood for a small museum instead of one of the larger and more overwhelming ones. It consists of three floors with an audio guide and takes about an hour, and there is a lovely garden in the back. The paintings (especially of dogs) and art collection is quite impressive for the couples house. I was really amazed on how beautiful and intricate the details were - I would highly recommend giving this house a visit. Each room is so specifically designed and carefully thought through. The staff are also quite friendly. Another plus - there is a bathroom located on each floor. This is a place I would consider holding a private event. Loved it.

I love to visit FOAM on a regularly basis. The change exhibitions every few months and they show varied photographers. This month is Tyler Mitchell's Idyllic Spaces the bomb. Lay back on a large beanbag and enjoy the youth eating icecream, cycling etc. Scheltens&Abbenes is wonderful, with stuff from Paco Rabane's private collection! And Eva O'Leary looks sweat. The images Santa Mofukeng created are very impressive, esp. the photo's on election day

My wife and I visited the cow Museum after seeing it on here, it is my 30th and we decided to look for the more interesting and unusual places to visit and it was fantastic! So much character and intrigue in a wonderful little shop. The owner, Sam, is a lovely man who is very passionate about his collection. We ended up spending a great amount time discussing all the different unusual peices in his collection. If you are looking for something different to do, I would recommend checking out the Cow Museum and talking to Sam about the collection. We ended purchasing a pair of lovely cows of our own!

In one of the most beautiful canal houses of Amsterdam, the Cromhout House, you will meet a number of notable collectors. Over the years they have donated their diverse collections to the city of Amsterdam. The Cromhouthuis is the house of collectors. Wandering through the different rooms, an audio tour tells you the story of influential collectors such as Dreesmann, Backer and Lopez Suasso. Their stories, passion for collecting and peculiarities are told to the visitor in a spectacular setting. The Cromhout family, who lived here for almost two centuries, formed the core of what we now consider World Heritage: the canal belt! They were also prominent art collectors. The Cromhouthuis thus is the place par excellence to bring the unique visual whole of collections of art objects, furniture, silver and paintings to life.
For over 16 years, Amsterdam based artist Ellen Davidzon paints reality the way she likes to see it. Thanks to her figurative impressionistic and abstract symbolistic style, she's able to bring her feelings onto the white canvas. With themes like Amsterdam, the beach and more recent boundaries, there are paintings that make you happy, reflect or just enjoy the special colourisation.
