It only took us 20 years to make our way to Campo's Railway Museum, and we were all so glad we went! Felt like the old wild west -- an easy drive from San Diego! What an honor to be there for their Centennial Celebration! I first learned of the museum as a friend takes his kids there every Christmas for their Polar Express family event. Our group had no idea what to expect and we weren't ready to leave when we did. It was a first class event complete with a train ride, miniature live steam train display, steam fire truck (and station dog!), section house, classic car display, a ceremony with full band, display building, story telling/magic for children, car shop and picnic lunches -- Abe Lincoln made an appearance too! It was so much fun to wander around, not be rushed and enjoy learning from those volunteers that are passionate about keeping this community treasure running and available to all that seek it out to learn and appreciate our past. Will definitely bring visiting guests in the future! It is a one of a kind weekend or vacation memory to behold.
