With more than 600 miles of coastline, Corsica has beaches to rival the Côte d'Azur. Calvi, in northwest Corsica, blends French style with Italian sunshine. Bask in the sun on a pure white beach that stretches the length of the bay, or explore the medieval Citadel with its unparalleled views and peaceful pedestrian streets. Jazz lovers should plan to visit during Calvi's annual jazz festival in June.

Catholic Church high up in the old part of town with great walks, alleyways and views. Also some street art worth discovering. Well worth the steps and time.

We took the citadina the free electric bus up the hill and meandered at a snails pace down the little streets checking out the menus and window shopping in the fancy shops, the views over the port are lovely. Loads of places to sit for a drink and to watch the world go by.

My title says it all - if you want a safe beach to sit all day with kids in Corsica (or the Med in general) then Calvi ticks all those boxes. The water is shallow for a good couple hundred metres with beautifully rippled surface and very flat gradient. There is no rip tide or sharp drops so even kids who can't swim can play comfortably. The beach itself has beautiful soft white sand which is perfect for playing, building sand castles, forts, digging holes etc. There are also rock built breakwaters periodically which create fantastic rock pools - we found starfish, fish, hermit crabs etc - so perfect for those who want a bucket and net rather than bucket and spade. There are shoals of small fish which swim around in the shallow waters and they are fun to watch / try to catch in the net. There are beach cafes along the length which has sections with their own loungers and parasols for hire for a day at a cost of about €10-15 for two which we didnt think was bad; but there is plenty of space if you just want to bring a towel and sit on the sand. There are places to rent wind surfing and jet skiing equipment as well. The train runs along the back of the beach which adds another level of interest when sitting there watching the water but alongside the track is a boardwalk which takes you along the beach nicely. From Calvi a short walk away from the Citadel there is a treeline activity centre aimed at kids / young adults suspended in the pine trees which line the beach. All in all, this is not a hidden secluded beach this is a practical but perfect beach if travelling with kids, especially young ones.
