Here’s your day in Calistoga: Yoga. Massage. Spa lunch. Hike. Wine-tasting. Facial. Mud bath. Gourmet dinner (with more wine). Dip in a mineral pool. Does it get more relaxing than a spa town built around natural springs in the middle of wine country? We don't think so.

Established in 1895. Larkmead is a truly historic vineyard, dating back to the 1880s, and has been owned by members of the Solari family since 1948. One of the very finest vineyards in Napa Valley, Larkmead's 120 acres are primarily planted to Cabernet but also Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Sauvignon Blanc and a small block of 100 year-old Tocai Friulano vines. In addition to crafting its own 100% Napa Valley Estate wines, Larkmead also grows and sells top quality fruit to select premium Napa Valley wineries.

Highly recommend visiting this winery. Its off the beaten track & north of town of Calistoga. It a blessing since we didn't see crazy crowds, staff was so accommodating & friendly. With covid, they have seating right at the edge of the vineyards with gorgeous views. The tasting menu was better (quantity, quality, price) than at most famous wineries in Napa Valley. The staff followed all covid rules with precision & we felt safe. I used the restroom which was also cleaned after every visit & kept very clean and tidy. Highly recommend for a cozy afternoon in the valley

Revived in 1965 by Jack and Jamie Davies, Schramsberg Vineyards focuses on the finest and most complex hand-crafted sparkling wine in California. Carefully blending from over 300 base wines, harvested from over 115 individual cool-climate North Coast vineyards, the winemaking team creates elegant vintage dated Pinot Noir and Chardonnay based sparkling wines using the méthode traditionnelle process.
The driveway going up to schramsberg was my favorite memory of this place to be honest. It was one of the most beautiful drives I've ever experienced. The tour itself was very informative, but Brittany was amazing at throwing some humor in there too so it wasn't boring by any means. She really knew her stuff!! Once we learned all about the bubbles, we went into a tasting room to try a bunch of them. Brittany even showed us how to open a bottle of champagne without it going everywhere! It was a great experience altogether.

As I’m typing I’m drinking an ‘06 Zahtila Zinfandel. We bought several cases of this and some of her Cabernet many moons ago. Her wines have held up wonderfully over time and are still fabulous - in my opinion, way better than many big name vineyards. Hers was the one vineyard that I insisted on purchasing wine from during a Napa trip - I liked it better than my husband. He has since changed his mind and agrees that Laura’s wines are top notch. They aren’t the big dramatic wines that some people prefer, rather beautiful and elegant.

T-Vine Winery is located on Highway 29 in Calistoga, California. We produce juicy, bold, intense Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Grenache, and Cabernet Sauvignon from family-owned, old vine vineyards. We are on a mission to preserve old-vine vineyards whose stewards are legendary, generational farmers and growers.
If your wine palate is big, bold fruit with a soft finish, T-Vine is highly recommended. The winemaker has captured the essence of the local terra and fruit. Amazing Howell Mountain Zinfandel, but also try the old vine Russian River Zin, from the Bacigalupi vineyard. The Frediani Petite Sirah and Hill of Thunder Red Wine are must tastes too. The staff, Brendan, as manager and others are friendly, fun and know their wines. Casual, rustic and beautiful setting.

A number of huge redwoods in this forest point away from Mount St. Helena, which once erupted violently.
I've been to the petrified forest in Arizona, and loved it, but I found this one more impressive. I'm surprised it's not a state or national park, These once towering redwoods are still magnificent though they've turned to rock and are horizontal instead of vertical. The trail through the park takes you through beautiful scenery, although for some it may be a bit strenuous. Every view is worth the hike and I appreciate that the owners have maintained the property's natural state. Worth noting: informative interpretive signs, the stunning view of the volcano that created the park, and an excavated giant that disappears into cave carved into the hillside. The $12 entry fee is well worth it. Nice gift shop.
