January 17, 2022 Christa Meece

As a well-known destination for both spring breakers and A-list travelers in need of a getaway, Cabo San Lucas has definite vacation cred. The beaches here range in temperament, from the serene waters of the Sea of Cortez and Playa del Amor to the kickin’ waves of Zippers, a surfing paradise. If you care to romp with locals, head to the coves and rock formations of the Cannery beaches. Kids will have a blast communing with the local animals by swimming with dolphins or taking a camel ride through the Desert Park Natural Reserve.

Hubby, friend and I decided to try the climb on our own only to discover a wonderful person named, Enrique. Enrique took our group up the mountain but unfortunately my husband and I got separated from the group and was solo. Enrique did discover us as we made our way down. My recommendations are to wear good footwear, hat, sunscreen and bring water or an electrolyte type drink. Enrique offers this climb every morning at 9:30. He doesn't charge for being your guide, and tips are optional. TIP the Man! He was my savior that day and saved my a**. He is also a dog trainer and the tips help out with food expenses, etc. LOVE You Enrique ! You are the man!

Bay of Cabo San Lucas

Sheltered harbor great for fishing.

Reviewed By RichardS778 - Scottsdale, United States

My wife and I have been to Los Cabos and the bay area many times on land and on cruise trips. On our last cruise on Princess the ship will shuttle you into the very pretty small harbor and from there you can strike out to so many points of interest like beaches, just a short water taxi ride or cab ride away, there is good fishing depending on the season, whale watching, snorkling, hotels, all inclusive resorts and this is a destination wedding location for many. With rere exception it is safe but always remember you are in Mexico and be smart. During the day it is 100% safe in my opinion. There is the usual tourist shopping...many places to eat and have drinks and so on. Hills surround the bay and it is just beautiful. Safe swimming in the bay but not on the Pacific side. Many tours are available. Folks there are friendly.

Pretty beach ideal for swimming, sunning and snorkeling.

Took a nice hike over from Lands End on a recent Saturday morning. It was a busy place with a few vendors and lots of water taxis coming and going. Beautiful place if you want to spend some time in the water!!! Nice to actually be on Lovers Beach rather than just looking at it from one of the boat rides!

Santa Maria Beach

A pristine white sand beach offering spectacular snorkeling.

The surf can be a little rough here, but there are lifeguards who will advise where it is the safest to swim and play. There was great snorkeling at the Southwest edge with schools of large fish swimming near the shore. The water and sand in Cabo are not as pleasant as Cancun (coarse sand and cool temps) but this water was clear and the beach view was beautiful. We rented an umbrella from a beach vendor. He charged 200 pesos for a whole day, but was willing to split his price for an hour of use. We were happy to spend the money because the sun was pretty brutal.

For our anniversary we decided to visit Cabos as they have the most managed and controlled numbers of Covid in Mexico... Miguel was our tour guide thru Animal Kingdom...he was very friendly, fun and knowledgeable about the care the birds and other animals receive from there facility. The birds were a really awesome experience and we enjoyed the pleasant outing. Abraham was our guide for the camels. He was witty, extremely knowledgeable and caring towards the animals and gave us a deeper appreciation for Gods gift through these animals. We rode Speedy who is the coolest camel of them all!!! The ride was just enough, not too short, not to long, just right for us to say we had the experience of riding a Camel and check this awesome fun off our bucket list! But then came Adrian on the UTV’s!!! Oohhh mmmyyy God!! WE WERE NOT READY!! We have driven ATV’S and UTV’s in other countries before (D.R., Jamaica) but NEVER have we had such an AWESOME AND DOPE experiences we did w Adrian!!!! His journey is ABSOLUTELY for the THRILL SEEKER!! I won’t spoil the surprises for you but this was by far the absolutely perfectly messiest and most fun experience we have ever had on 4 wheels!!! Dress to make a mess and get completely thrilled!! On a side note...I was completely impressed with the Covid control and prevention methods the state had in place at every location we went too. Our temp was taken at every venue, taxi, tour bus, sanitizer of hands and shoes...I appreciate the care and concern to protect citizens and tourists. With that, our return to hotel transportation was a packed bus where all passengers had on a mask except for one couple who made everyone else uncomfortable by refusing to follow the rules. Wild Canyon should enforce their rules and ensure all passengers do the same. No mask, no ride. Everything else was GREAT!!!! Thanks again for an amazing experience!!! WE WILL ABSOLUTELY RETURN!!!

Rock overlooking the sea; a great spot for whale-watching and snorkeling.

We took a water taxi from the Office for $10 each round trip. Snorkeling was great at Pelican Rock (better than Chileno and Santa Maria beach- more variety of fish). From there you can walk over to Lovers Beach and Divorce Beach. We were only there for 2 hours, we wiched we had stayed for 3 hours- lots to see!
