“Alligator Beach” is the translation of the name of this beach. It’s not much of a beach, because it actually is on the main river of the state of Paraiba (the Paraiba River, surprise!). Jacare has become famous for watching the sunset, mostly because of one man and his saxophone. Every evening, Jurandy plays Ravel’s “Bolero” to celebrate the sunset & has played this song more times than anyone else in the world (more than 4,000 times!)—he’s in the Guinness Book of World Records. The area has lots of bars, and they’re all full to watch the sunset and Jurandy playing “Bolero” in a boat in the river as the sun sets. It’s quite a spectacle & really enjoyable. The restaurants are full of spectators and the service in all the bars is quick and the food is decent. This is truly something you must do if you’re anywhere near here, and you won’t be disappointed.

It was nice to stay across the street and go visit the beach whenever it was pleasant outside. Sometimes it was too hot other times it was rainy. When we had a breeze I would park myself under a palm tree and just let the day pass by. This beach is the perfect beach to allow yourself to relax and let all your cares slip into oblivian.
