This historical park contains some of the country's most extensive Khmer ruins.
Together with 25 other Anglo Thai Society members, my wife and myself visited the Phanom Rung Historical Park’ yesterday afternoon. Fortunately the very well maintained and preserved site was relatively empty (probably a bi-product of the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak) and we were able to enjoy a very pleasant couple of hours looking around the many relics at our leisure. Our visit had started with a 10-15 walk upto the site on the road before departing on the attractive rear walkway to the car park. The latter is quite steep in places and not suitable for the less able - indeed, two members of our group had the good sense to return to our original starting point. It also offers the opportunity to see some of the many (Thailand has more than a 1,000 different species) local birdlife. All in all, it was a most enjoyable visit - one I would certainly encourage others to replicate.

Prasat Muang Tam (Thai: ปราสาทเมืองต่ำ ปราสาทหินเมืองต่ำ), GPS: 14.498124 N, 102.983417 E (14°29'53.3"N 102°59'00.3"E), on Route 3054, ปราสาทหินเมืองต่ำ Tambon Chorakhe Mak, Amphoe Prakhon Chai, Chang Wat Buri Ram. It is best to get the combination ticket to see Phanom Rung Historical and Prasat Muang Tamfor 150 Baht for foreigners, or 30 baht for Thai citizens. This site asks "would this be a good hot day activity?" Not really, but you do not get much of a choice. November temperatures were bearable, but certainly January or February would be ideal. After seeing Prasat Muang Tam, if you are traveling onward to Phanom Rung Historical Park, the following two small free sites are worthwhile: Kuti Rue Si, Ban Khok Mueang (Thai: กุฏิฤาษีบ้านโคกเมือง), GPS: 14.501136 N, 102.976519 E (14°30'04.1"N 102°58'35.5"E) is 1.1 km from Prasat Muang Tam. Travel north on Route 3054 to GPS 14.500508 N, 102.979669 E (14°30'01.8"N 102°58'46.8"E) and turn west onto the small road, and continue 350 meters to the Prasat. Prasat Nong Bua Rai (Thai: กุฏิฤๅษีหนองบัวราย), GPS: 14.531540 N, 102.962017 E (14°31'53.5"N 102°57'43.3"E), Route 2117, Chorakhe Mak, Prakhon Chai District, Buri Ram 31140

Khao Kradong Forest Park is the site of one of Thailand's extinct volcanoes, as well as having a fantastic, large, gold Buddha statue. Energetic visitors can climb the stairs from the main car park to the Buddha statue and volcano crater, or drive to the top car park. The summit provides great views of Buriram City and the surrounding areas. I wasn't disappointed!

Loads to see and learn here. They have many different indoor gardens with all sorts of different plants . They also have put door bus tours that take you round the fields where they grow fruits ect. Would definitely recommend. But make sure you have enough time( about 2-4) hours . Lovely food just across the road too.
