THE ART NEEDS US. AND WE NEED ART. We are definitely not a typical gallery. No we don’t want to be. OODE brings the work of young Dutch designers together with orphaned art – art from closed museums and art institutions. OODE wants to make ART ACCESSIBLE for a wide public, so we keep the prices very affordable. Visit our space in the centre of Amsterdam and discover a piece to adopt.

Located in a passageway between the Kalverstraat and the Begijnhof it is possible to admire 15 substantial paintings. These are portraits of the Amsterdam Civic Guards from the 17th Century. Part of, though not actually in, the Amsterdam Historic Museum, this is probably the only place in the world where paintings are displayed in he open air, with only a glass roof to protect them.
This is a quick, free, and easy way to get a dose of Dutch history, tradition, and art through the institution of civic guard portraits.

Dutch Artist Mark Raven presents his striking modern Amsterdam Art impressions from his gallery and shop in the heart of the city behind the Royal Palace.
We bought 5 of the T-shirts. Three of the bike in men's women and children's and then a bridge and a green/red one. They all are organic cotton but for a bit less money regular cotton is available in some colors. There is a small fitting room and I recommend all Americans use it because European adult sizes are consistently a size smaller. So a European L is an American M. No vanity sizing here. I don't mind the reference to the red light on an adult shirt but even though it is abstract I'm not forward thinking enough to put it on my children. However for pure attractiveness I think it is the most visually striking of the shirts. I think this is a great souvenir because it really captures the feeling of Amsterdam. If your souvenirs include: some chocolate sprinkles, cheese, some black tulips, miffy bunny stuffed animals, the mouse house kits and some art from the big museums then you need a shirt from here to round it out... Way better than a hard rock Amsterdam shirt but no one is stopping you from getting one of those as well.

Gunther von Hagens’ BODY WORLDS: The Happiness Project in the heart of Amsterdam tells the amazing story of our own body and the impact of happiness on our health. More than 200 anatomical specimens of real human bodies show the complexity, resilience and vulnerability of the body. Join the 40 million people around the world who have already seen the exhibition and been on this fascinating voyage of discovery through the human body.
I really enjoyed visiting here - it was truly fascinating to see how the body works, it was interesting to have different elements of the body systems on different floors. Some very interesting exhibitions and interactive pieces to engage in. The staff were helpful, and it was very clean throughout. Really glad that I took time to visit here on my holiday to Amsterdam, a very interesting day trip.

Housed in a splendid 17th-century building that was a former civic orphanage, this museum tells the history of Amsterdam through its vast collection of art and artifacts from medieval times to the present.
Good layout, nice intro for kids in the infant home, great history about Amsterdam. Good length so no one will get bored. Great value for money.
