Loved this majestic monastery complex, perched high up in the hills. Partly damaged by earthquakes in the mid '70's, it is now part sparkly new and pristine, and part comfortably old and worn. Part of the new additions include a representation of Buddha under a Bodhe tree, and 2 pagodas destroyed by the earthquake. You can stay here and attend classes. A meditation class was in progress the day we visited, which meant the vibe was wonderfully quiet and respectful. Magical place. I loved it.

Absolutely worth travelling to Pemuteran just to snorkel / dive over the Biorock. It’s very easy to access - only a minute swim from the lovely relaxing beach - and shallow enough for great vis of all the reef creatures.

Located on the highway running along Bali's east coast, Surya Indigo Cooperative is dedicated to the preservation of natural dyeing and traditional textiles of Northern Bali. On a visit, you can observe different stages of handmade textile production, such as ginning and spinning cotton and weaving on the traditional back strap loom. Dyeing demonstrations can be arranged in advance. A small shop sells the village group's creations.
Please visit Surya Indigo Hand Weavers when you are in the part of Bali to support the local woman and to take home a beautiful item to remember these ladies and this stunning part of the world. Surya means "sun" in sanskrit and Indigo reflects " great devotion and wisdom". The woman spend their days weaving beautiful items and you can see them in action when you visit. Next door is a small store where they sell their handiwork for purchase.

I live in Jember on Java Island. A city in the middle between Surabaya the Capitol of East Java and Denpasar the capital of Bali. I would like to share my trip to explore West Bali; Pemuteran and Pulaki in Buleleng. If you come from different parts of places it is easy from Gilimanuk Port as starting point. I took Pandanwangi train from Jember train station at 5 am to Ketapang port in Banyuwangi for 8k IDR. It took 3 hours and by 8am I reached the harbour. I crossed the sea by Ferry for 7k IDR. The next transportation is bus from Gilimanuk Bus station to Pemuteran. It costs me 20k IDR. It was so easy by noon I got to the homestay and wandering around by motorbike I rent from the owner of the homestay.

Atlas Pearls is a world leader in eco-pearling of the South Sea Pearl. The North Bali farm is the hatchery of Atlas Pearls where the company breeds the oysters, which after seeding are sent to East Indonesia where waters are more pure and full of nutrients. The farm tour includes a thorough explanation of the hatchery's activities, a educational video and a live seeding operation. Pearl grading is explained and guests can see and compare pearls according to grade (the 5'S's: shade, shine, size, surface, shape). The farm tour does not include a boat tour, as there is very little to see but lines of rope. We welcome groups and individuals daily from 10:00 to 16:00. Our boutique shows our fine jewelry collections, the young and trendy 'surfed' collections and classic strands and studs for those who want to bring back home the North Bali souvenir of choice. No reservations are required, the tour is free of charge. see you in North Bali!

visited this temple in November last year, but it was the second time. this time i stayed around Pejarakan, one day i had a one day tour, visiting some temples and interesting places in north bali. Pura Pulaki is one of the six holy temples in Bali, it is a sea temple which face the sea and just sits at the foothill.this temple also known as temple of monkeys, cuz so many monkeys here, that's why they fenced this temple by metal cage.i had a chance to talk with the priest inside the temple, very nice experience. this temple quite popular, saw many devotees come here for praying. compared to the first time visit, monkeys more cheeky here,so take care of your belongings.
