The beaches of tropical Broome aren’t just beautiful—they’re historic. The white-sand Cable Beach is named for an undersea telegraph cable that was laid in the late 1800s, connecting Broome to Singapore. A short hop over the dunes is Minyirr Park, and, on the eastern shore, Town Beach is home to a famous natural phenomenon, the Staircase to the Moon. Time-travel to the prehistoric era by heading to Gantheaume Point to check out 130-million-year-old dinosaur footprints.

The Buddha Sanctuary at Cable Beach has received some loving TLC over the past few months with a new decking platform, shaded new entry area, landscaped gardens and a sacred rock pond on its way. The space has also recently transitioned to be known as the Blue Body Buddha Sanctuary - linking it with a well-established meditation and wellness centre, the Blue Body Spiritual Centre based in Perth, WA. Despite the change of name, the Buddha Sanctuary remains closely connected with Cable Beach Club Resort and Spa and offers daily yoga classes for resort guests and locals. Spending quiet time at the Buddha Sanctuary is a must for anyone visiting Broome. Established more than 10 years ago as a space for the local community, the Buddha Sanctuary is home to a 4 metre tall, crystal Buddha that harnesses the energy of Buddha Kuan Yin (goddess of Mercy and Compassion). The Yoga Pavilion, open decking area and ornamental garden offers visitors a special space for quiet reflection, meditation and relaxation. The Buddha Sanctuary is open from 7am - 10am and 4pm - 7pm on most days. Yoga classes are currently held Monday to Friday (6am & 7.30am) with an additional evening class at 5.15pm on Tuesday, Thursdays and Fridays.

Nicely presented and maintained cemetery. It would be great to have more information about the history of the Chinese people in Broome included.

This is accessed via a sealed road just off the road to the Port. Our visit there was disappointing, since the main jetty walk is mostly closed and there's little to see. But we parked at Entrance Point and went for a walk there instead, and spent well over an hour leisurely exploring the area. There's two boat ramps here, and it appears to be a popular spot for fishing. But for the most part it was very quiet, with very few people here. The rock formations are especially interesting, with a lot of variety in the types of rocks, starting from the car-park, and the closer you get to the waterline the rocks change to different formations and different rock types. At low tide when we visited there were little rock pools. Immediately adjacent is Reddell Beach, which goes from here all the way to Gantheaume Point. We walked about 2km of it (not quite half-way), and it was flat and beautiful for walking. The sand is yellow in colour, different from the white at Cable Beach, and the ocean itself is clearer and more turquoise. We also saw some tiny mud crabs on the beach itself. A delightful place to spend a couple of hours on a sunny day!

Went fishing on the wharf on a couple of occasions. The tide is strong so you probably don’t need heavy tackle as it is hard to feel the bites. A lot of smaller fish as you regularly lose your bait. There are plenty of fish there but hard to get anything decent. We caught a couple of small stripes snapper on a hand line using squid. We hooked a big fish which we couldn’t pull in! There is plenty of fish there. Make sure you have a lanyard on your knife. The foot way is made of reconstituted hard plastic with inch and a bit squares. The knife fell off the bait box and through the square never to be seen again! The wharf itself is a modern example of a working wharf, there was a pearling Lugger being loaded whilst we were there. The views are great.

To see all the resting places of such brave people that worked to bring natures wondes to the surface, very respectful place and worth a visit

Great place to see the views of the town and the water and the artwork is beautiful. The shadows from the roof onto the ground added another form of art.
