Sitting by our pool this summer I heard laughing and what sounded like a good time up in the clouds. Looking up i saw several colorful parachutes with happy and BRAVE people dangling from them. Now we watch them all summer. It's like having your own show right in our backyard. Brave souls!

We have been to the farm twice, including last Fall. Bison are NOT cows. They are very independent and are not easy to keep penned up. They run faster than a racehourse (up to 35 MPH) and can jump higher than a deer (over 6 feet). They looked health and well cared for; similiar to those in the wilds of Yellowstone or Custer State Park.
This is a working farm and it looks it; flies and manure everywhere. The employees/owners were friendly and both times they gave an excellent tour. They explained about the bison we saw as well as the history of bison in the American West.
Visitors must come expecting to see reality; not a Hollywood or Disneyland prodiction. We plan to return.

Went to see "Buddy", a musical we fell in love with after seeing it at the Walnut Street Theater in Philadelphia a few years ago. The play was excellent; particular credit goes to the actor who played Buddy Holly. Loved the show.
The theater is small, seating is tight, but every seat has a good view. The staff (mostly volunteer I understand) was friendly and really motivated to see everyone had a good time. The patrons dressed very casually - nothing formal here - you can be comfortable in attire. Theater sells snacks and beer.
All in all it was a rewarding experience; it was our first visit there but definitely won't be our last. Although we drove 1 ½ hours to get there, we liked the whole Putnam area, and plan to go back again when we can spend a full day in the shops, restaurants, and of course the Bradley.
Ample free parking is very close - 1 block or less - spread over several lots. Make sure you download the downtown parking map from the Bradley's website, to get your bearings.

In the center of Canterbury, Ct is a wonderful gem of history. May not be a proud part of American history but the struggles of African Americans and the courage the Prudence Crandall had to establish a school for African American girls was humbling. Take the time to stop and reflect on a history and the courage it took to drive change.

There is so much to do here, I cant decide where to start. There are many trails to hike, and lots of great fishing locations. Wildlife is everywhere, and birds are numerous. This is a great easy family hike location, with easy, mostly level trails!

I reviewed this wonderful house in July, 2013. This is our third visit to Historic New England's Roseland Cottage, but our first visit in the sun. The first two times it was raining so hard, that we never got to enjoy the beautiful gardens in front of the house. We have paid expensive admission fees to see flowers and gardens that were not as impressive as what we saw today in the sun.
We have been members of Historic New England for many years. It is the best deal around. Family membership is only $60.00 a year. You can visit all 37 properties as many times as you want for an entire year.
Roseland Cottage is open Wednesday - Sunday from June 1st to October 15th. You must go on a tour to see the house. Tours are on the hour from 11 A.M. to 4 P.M. There is a visitors' center where you arrange for the tours $10.00 ($9.00 for seniors) if you are not Historic New England members. There are rest rooms and a small store in the visitors' center The center was open when we got there at 10:50 A.M.
While in the area, you might also want to visit Roseland Park which Henry Bowen donated to the town of Woodstock in 1876. Henry Bowen, the man who had Roseland Cottage built as a summer home, needed a bigger space to host his huge July 4th celebrations, so he bought land and established a park.
Woodstock Academy is across the street from Roseland Cottage. Founded in 1801, it was Henry Bowen's financial support that kept it from closing in the 1840s. Henry and other family members continued to contribute generously to the Academy for many years.
Every spring the graduating seniors (over 200 of them) come over to Roseland Cottage for a party and to tour the house. You may also want to tour the Woodstock Academy's campus.

Found it by mistake, looking for some place to hike/walk for a few hours, and liking waterfalls, this place comes up. Almost missed it on GPS, but once we found the parking, we ended up spending hours instead of 1 hour, walking the trials and taking pictures. Excellent find.

Disappointed in our visit although the drive to get there was beautiful. The "welcoming" desk was chaotic and the tasting area was located outside. It was very crowded and there was only 1 poor, sweaty wine-tender, doing his best to serve the masses. I wouldn't return.

The tasting room has four very different beers on tap. The tasting is $6 and you get a shot glass to take home. The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable. They don't do tours since everything there is to see is in the tasting room. There is a parking lot across the street from the brewery.

Cool antique mall with 3 floors to explore. I enjoyed walking around and was both awed and overwhelmed by the sheer volume of merchandise. I saw loads of jewelry, kitchen items, linens, war memorabilia, Christmas ornaments, furniture, coins, silver and so much more. I found a vintage silk scarf for $6.00 and love it !
Their business card says "Closed Tuesdays" so call ahead.
