Broadstairs is a coastal town on the Isle of Thanet in the Thanet district of east Kent, England, about 80 miles (130 km) east of London. It is part of the civil parish of Broadstairs and St Peter's, which includes St Peter's, and had a population in 2011 of about 25,000. Situated between Margate and Ramsgate, Broadstairs is one of Thanet's seaside resorts, known as the "jewel in Thanet's crown". The town's crest's Latin motto is Stella Maris ("Star of the Sea"). The name derives from a former flight of steps in the chalk cliff, which led from the sands up to the 11th-century shrine of St Mary on the cliff's summit.

This beach is wonderful all year round but during the summer season it is especially interesting. There are activities for younger children, for example, bouncy castles, swingboats, a vintage roundabout and Punch and Judy Show. There is also a watersports school offering surfing, stand-up paddling and kayaking for older children and adults. There are lots of cafes on the beach and around the promenade. It is a really traditional English seaside resort - quaint, charming and very photogenic!

Just round the corner from Viking Bay (the main beach at Broadstairs) is the lovely Stone Bay. There's a promenade from Viking Bay to Stone Bay som its accessible for both pushchair and wheelchair users. Sone Bay, with its long stretches of sand, is a great beach for familys and for taking a walk on. At this time of the year it's also dog friendly because you can take your dog onto the beach at any time but, from May to September, dogs are not allowed on the beach between the hours of 10.00 am and 6.00 pm.

Being tidal the beach is very clean. it is dog friendly, but do check the tide ties before you set off. there is a concrete walkway if you get there a the wrong time but it is not the same as walking on the beach. You can walk up to Ramsgate in one direction and Broadstairs in the other. Car parking fee on the road at the top. There is a seasonal cafe and toilets. It is a great walk for the dog as she can go off the lead and meet dozens of other dogs. Often go for a paddle even in winter (in wellies obviously!)

Louisa Beach, when the tide is out, is a lovely, wide sandy beach. Ideal for families and accessible by both pushchair and wheelchair users. There is also a promenade at the back. It is quieter than Viking Beach, which is just round the corner.
