One of Australia's best construction projects, this centre is home to a performing arts complex, an art gallery, a museum and a number of food outlets for all budgets.
And a 'joy' it was! Tom Gleeson would have to be one of the most talented and nuanced comedians in the country. The show was short (one hour) and he held the audience in the palm of his hand. Plenty of laughs, none greater than when he fell into his clearly more comfortable role of interacting directly with individual audience members during his final Q&A-style session. This was my first time at the Concert Hall, and I had been warned of little leg room with the upstairs seat I had chosen. That was absolutely not an issue, and the view was terrific. An absolute standout at the venue was the incredible friendliness and helpfulness of all staff: without exception, they were enthusiastic, professional and 'went the extra mile' to both welcome and farewell their guests.

Great venue to catch a show, eat a meal or wonder around. Situated by the Brisbane River, it is steeped in history, had a great gallery and fabulous shows, especially during Brisbane Comedy Festival.

Just upstream from the Story Bridge, the Brisbane Jazz Club sits on the river with wonderful views across to the city. Brisbane's best kept secret, the club operates every Thursday to Sunday night and a brunch on the last Sunday of every month. If you feel like having dinner, the Story Bridge Hotel chefs will cook your meal and serve it to you at your table or if you prefer, you can have a drink or a meal on our wonderful deck overlooking the water. There is also a free ferry next to the club which operates every 15 minutes between the Jazz Club and Eagle Street in the city. Brisbane Jazz Club turned 45 years old in 2017 which is testament to the success of this 'not for profit' organisation.
We spontaneously thought to go to the Brisbane Jazz Club and what a little gem this is right on the River with an amazing view of the CBD. We bought tickets last minute but were able to get fantastic seats up close but really all the seated tables are close and have a great view. We ordered tasty food and drink for a very reasonable price and we were able to catch the Free City Hopper Ferry back to our accomodation.
