The Feldioara fortress can be spotted from the main road from/to Brasov. We were on our way to Viscri when we saw it and upon our return to Brasov decided to stop by. We didn't regret it. It was rebuilt recently, it opened its gates again in 2018. Personally, I was impressed to find out that we really invested time and money to restore a historic site. From the entrance the guide welcomed us warmly and presented the history of the fortress, what we were about to see and the why's and who's behind its story. She was a very nice person. Also she handed us some materials with further info about the fortress and a map with all key attractions around Tara Barsei. Good to have for a future trip. Inside the fortress you could hear medieval music, which created a nice atmosphere. I got goosebumps :). The view from the towers is impressive. There are pics from before during and after restoration and you could see the work involved. There are also exhibitions with objects from the community of Feldioara and stories about the role of the community throughout time. Also there is a room dedicated to the history of Teutons with a couple of representative objects exhibited. The entrance is 15 lei for adults and 5 for students, kids and seniors. I would recommend you stop by. It takes about 30 minutes to climb the stairs to the towers and walk around the inner yard.

Dear Visitors to Bran Castle, On June 1, 2009, we celebrated the return of the heirs of Princess Ileana with Bran Castle’s rebirth as the first private museum and premiere tourist destination of Romania. June 1st is the International Day of Children and Bran Castle’s day of revival. Fittingly, we have chosen to celebrate the day with special events for children, so that we may all remain fresh and young at heart. During the past year we have completed refurbishing the Castle, recapturing the spirit of Queen Marie’s favorite retreat and the loved home of her descendants. We have installed easy to read informational plaques and a media room for our visitors. We are currently restoring the park, as well as renovating all the facilities. We are also preparing additional cultural events and entertainment for our visitors. Following the castle’s change of ownership, director Narcis Ion remained with the Ministry of Culture, but has continued to be our valued advisor. We have welcomed a new group of managing directors: Lia Doru Trandafir, Corin Trandafir, and Alexandru Priscu. We are happy to receive every guest that comes to visit us. Welcome to our castle, our home. Sincerely, Dominic Habsburg, Maria-Magdalena Holzhausen, Elisabeth Sandhofer
We took a tour of Bran Castle as part of a day long tour and as we drove to the castle from Brasov, our tour guide, Manuela, gave us a thorough impressive discussion concerning the legend and lore of Bran Castle, aka Dracula's Castle vs. what was the true history behind Bran Castle. To enjoy the castle and the surrounding area, knowing the true story makes it all the more worthwhile. The castle itself is not a huge castle but was built in this location for not only defense/fortification reasons but also to collect taxes on goods as they traversed to and from Europe from countries further east. The location was one of the better ways to move goods through the region thus it was a prime tax collection site. The castle itself is impressive when you see it afar and close-up. Inside, it is rather minimalist but typical. It is worth the visit whether you visit based on folklore or want to know the true actual history!

It is worth the climb to catch the views of the city. This is on the opposite side of old town with respect to the Brasov sign. You can look up into the valleys. I walked up via city streets and walk down via trails through the woods.

This place is like a fairytale. It is perfectly located in the top of the hill and has amazing views of the villages nearby. We loved to walk around, enjoying the site and the breathtaking views. The entry fee was 15 RON/person and you can pay either cash or with a card. The lady from the entrance was extremely polite and helpful. Definitely worth a visit if you stay in Brasov or you travel to Sighisoara or Viscri. It is an 1 hour ride from Brasov

Its worth to take a walk along the old city walls, with its bastions, shows how the old Brasov looked like once in the middle ages. Takes you back in time and is a nice view of the city.
