It’s a beautiful city. The real Portugal. Lots to see. Very walkable. Great restaurants. They light the city at night. It’s like Christmas

Beautiful and cozy church on top of the mountain, in the Penha national park. Even though it is accessible by car, taking the cable car ride from town is a lot more fun. The views from the park around the church are spectacular. Bring a good zoom for the visit. A must see when in Guimaraes.

An open space with a church that was visited by the pope. Beautiful place, quiet and the halls used for religious activities are worth seeing. View of Braga from that height is also memorable. Pity that this place is not as much known as the boun Gesu church. Only half an hour away. Not to be missed

The name of the square translates as "bull square". The fair of bulls and other large cattle known since the XVII century gave the name of the square. The fortress wall was located here earlier. A fragment of the wall with the inscription "Aqui nasceu Portugal" (Portugal was born here) is the visual dominant of the square. It's a metaphor. In what sense was Portugal born here? The first king Afonso Henriques was born in Guimaraes, not the country itself. Other landmarks are the fountain and the Church of San Pedro. Four star EMAJ Boutique Hotel is located opposite.
