Praca da Republica

This square is full of flowers, it's very secure and clean. Children playing around some people selling portuguese chellnuts, and close have several other small square that have artists playing, coffee shops all around and, of course, is full of department stores.

Montanha- Parque da Penha

Reviewed By jezzc_13 - Hethersett, United Kingdom

Really did not think that the trip up the mountain in the cable car €7.50 return per person, would be soo good. Yes we did pick a sunny day, but we enjoyed a 2 hour trek up through the park enjoying all the nooks and crannies between the boulders. The shrines were a delight along with the viewpoints which were fantastic of the city and the surrounding countryside. Totally worth it and a real highlight winding in and out of the giant boulders.

Serra Penha

Reviewed By RicardoBowie - Edinburgh, United Kingdom

The Serra Penha is a very pretty hilltop park that dominates Guimaraes and offers stunning views of the town and surrounding areas. The park is terraced and is covered in large granite monoliths. The 5 euro return trip is worth the money. Even if you only have a spare 2 hours you can make this trip.

Ecopista - Linha do Tamega

Reviewed By martyAirdrie - Airdrie, Canada

We thoroughly enjoyed this ecopista route from Celorico de Basto to Amarante (46 km return) Rented bikes from Andre at Celobike in CdB, and Andre speaks excellent English. At the end of the route in Amarante we parked and locked our bikes and walked into the beautiful old centre of Amarante and spent a good 2 hours sightseeing and having lunch right opposite of the cathedral. Easy bike ride with few short but not steep climbs. Definitely recommendable.
