Bowness-on-Windermere is a town in South Lakeland, Cumbria, England. Due to its position on the banks of Windermere, the town has become a tourist honeypot. Although their mutual growth has caused them to become one large settlement, the town is distinct from the town of Windermere as the two still have distinguishable town centres. Historically part of Westmorland, in 2012, Bowness was one of the official stop off points for the Olympic torch before it made its way to the Olympic Games opening ceremony.

April 2021 marks 35 years of trading and my 14th season, Sail N Dine is the longest running yachting business on Windermere. I operate from Friday to Tuesday and offer 3 different experiences. The 10.30 to 1.30 lunch sail for up to 6 people gives a hands on sailing experience with a fantastic lunch (Sat, Sun, Mon & Tue). The evening sail leaves at 6pm and is a taste of true yachting, eating and drinking out on the Lake! Your 4 course dinner is cooked by me, using the finest local produce and cooked to your specification, whilst the conversation (and wine)flows! I take from 2 to 6 guests on a private basis only (Sat, Mon & Tue). I also offer a 2 hour private afternoon experience without food (Fri & Sun). You must have guessed by now that I am completely a one man band! I am receptionist, chauffeur, wine waiter, skipper, chef and washer upper! Have a look at my website for details, prices, availability and booking and if you have any questions please give me a call or drop me an email.

Enjoy a serene day out at the most enchanting historic houses in the Lake District. When you visit you are invited to relax and immerse yourself in all the beauty and craftsmanship of Blackwell. We encourage you to sit and soak up the atmosphere in Blackwell’s fireplace inglenooks, which have fine examples of tiles by Arts & Crafts designer William de Morgan. The inviting window seats offer stunning views of the surrounding Lake District scenery. You can appreciate the house as it was originally intended, without roped-off areas. Blackwell retains many of its original decorative features, including a rare hessian wall-hanging in the Dining Room, leaf-shaped door handles, curious window catches, spectacular plasterwork, stained glass and carved wooden panelling by Simpsons of Kendal. The rooms contain furniture and objects by many of the leading Arts and Crafts designers and studios.
Beautiful house in the Arts and Crafts style. Sunning examples of workmanship throughout, both original and recreated. Special exhibitions run throughout the year. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, went out of their way to tell us about the house and wider history. The small gift shop stocks beautiful products from local as well as national craftspeople, ceramics, jewelry etc and the tea room has great food, light lunches and cakes and the staff were again really friendly. I would really recommend a visit, a little space of peace and tranquility and fine craftsmanship overlooking Winderemere.

It was like stepping back in time with the retro cinema, popcorn and icecream! We all went to see Mamamia and sat upstairs in the old fashioned cinema and the whole family loved the experience. The staff were so friendly and we got free parking so a perfect night!

Come and play golf at one of the most scenically beautiful courses in Britain. Set in the heart of the Lake District, Windermere Golf Club is a hidden gem. A relatively short course with superb greens it's a pleasure to play. After enjoying your round, a warm welcome awaits in the clubhouse where you can eat, drink relax and continue to take in the stunning views. We look forward to seeing you!
Interesting course, quite challenging in places. The setting is lovely and on a fine day you have views of the surrounding fells
