The political, scientific, historical, architectural and business center of Russia, Moscow displays the country's contrasts at their most extreme. The ancient and modern are juxtaposed side by side in this city of 10 million. Catch a metro from one of the ornate stations to see Red Square, the Kremlin, the nine domes of St. Basil's Cathedral, Lenin's Mausoleum, the KGB Museum and other symbols of Moscow's great and terrible past, then lighten up and shop Boulevard Ring or people watch in Pushkin Square.

We spent the afternoon in the company of Galina in a location close to central Moscow. We were late as we had a few problems on the metro and then got lost but Galina was totally reasonable about this and came to find us on the street. We had our 12 & 14 year old kids with us and we all cooked independantly which was especially nice for them. Galina gave us expert instruction along with a bit of history and we made borscht, herring under fur and a cold soup. We are 2 vegetarians and 2 meat eaters but this was no problem at all for Galina who accommodated for us all. Lots of fun and we would all highly recommend! Thanks Galina! X
