Welcome to Katy Trail State Park, the longest developed rail-trail in the country. Whether you are a bicyclist, walker, equestrian, nature lover or history buff, the trail offers opportunities for recreation, a place to enjoy nature and an avenue to discover the past. The park, built on the former corridor of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad (MKT or Katy), is 240 miles long and runs between Clinton and Machens with 26 trailheads and four fully restored railroad depots along the way.
I have bicycled for about 60 years throughout the United States. Anyone looking for the best bicycle off-road trail, about 300 miles, in the United States, then I would highly recommend the KATY TRAIL in Missouri.
I have bike this 300 mile bike trail three times and enjoyed it every moment. Katy Trail was a old railroad, running from the Eastern part of Missouri to the Western part of Missouri known as Missouri, Kansas, Texas Railroad, (MKY or Katy). After the MKY discounted railroad service, the state of Missouri purchased the right of way through Missouri and paved it for walking and bicycling along a very scenic and serviceable trail.
If you are a bicycler, I would highly recommend the best and longest bicycle trail in the United States. Information can be obtained from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

We went over the past weekend to check out the Christmas light displays. We waited about 50 minutes in traffic to park. Admission is $5 per person and includes 2 free beers (no 'rita options like at the Brewery Christmas lights) and hot cocoa or cider. I loved that we were able to take our own pic with the Clydesdale instead of having to pay, which we probably waited in line for about 20 minutes to do. The decorations were pretty although not a ton to look at or do. I can see this expanding a lot, if they want to make it successful. Maybe a make your own cookie station for the kids or some crafts, an old world Santa available for pics, etc. The only food available was $6 cash only kettle corn, which was good. The line for the cocoa was insanely long - think we waited over 30 minutes and they were stirring it all by hand instead of having it premade in dispensers.
Nice visit, but so many places improvements could be made. For now I think we will stick with the Brewery lights display.

Took the grandkids for a walk on the Katy Bridge. We loved it, being able to stand over the river, feel and breathe the fresh air. A truly great experience. Great day trip or to watch the sunset.

It was our first visit to the Isle of Capri and one of the staff members said we should be sure to get a player's card. By doing so, we thought we would get some credits on our player's card but that wasn't the case....MoreThanks becoming an Isle Fan Club member, and for taking the time to tell us about your experience! I LOVE The Katy and exploring it just like Lewis & Clark! I've always appreciated having this fabulous trail in my backyard yet exploring all its segments & the townships has been a true delight. You cannot go wrong making a day outing on the Lewis & Clark so pack a nice picnic and enjoy!

This is a beautiful restored home that is now home to the Missouri State Society DAughters of the AMerican Revolution. There are a number of activities held there throughout the year and their Christmas tours are especially nice. Grounds are beautiful, home inside is gorgeous with many interesting pieces.

Historic home, built in 1882,and farm still owned and preserved by the Leonard family.
Ravenswood is an interesting preserved 1880 home south of Boonville, Missouri on Highway 5. It has been in the same family for five generations. The home holds a 100-year old collection of furniture, clothing, China, glassware and photographs. My favorite room was the library. Its walls are lined with very old books of all types. We enjoyed touring the home with a current family member. Don't expect one of those completely restored homes -- this one is a work in progress, but very interesting. The tour fee is $7 per person.

If you need a gift or just want to buy some unique thing for yourself, then this is the place to visit. There are leather crafts, glass blown items, pillows, aprons, gift bows, photos of Boonville or of someplace in Missouri, some food items grown or made from Missouri, candles that you can light or candles that are battery operated, keychains, I could go on and on. Whatever is in this store pertains to either Boonville or to Missouri.
